Made a thread about this but have a regearing question so any input/experience from you guys would be awesome.

Supercharged manual on 32" wheels and want more giddy up and go. Planning to regear and the shop recommended 4.56 gears but everything I'm reading says better for 34-35" tires. Want quicker acceleration but also drive on highways semi regularly cruising at about 80 mph. Would I be too wound out? I have no problems running at higher rpm than the average person.

Have searched and read about a dozen different threads but my situation is a little different as my truck is just a fun street truck and not an overlander dealio.

    Any input appreciated!

Play around with this. I have 33" and 4.1 gears. Its not enough, but doable. Im thinking 4.56 or maybe 4.88. Im thinking of going to 32" tires for my net set. 275/70R17.

Id go 4.10 or 4.30s. I regeared my v6 on stock size tires to 4.10s and it has more acceleration, but is still not bad on the hwy for cruising at 75-80

you can plug your info in here to get an idea of how many revs you’ll be turning at a given speed

If you do not plan on anything else go with 4.3. I did 4.56 (but an Auto and should be similar to 4.3) and it was a great setup pre S/C with a OV tune at the time.

Anyone have recommendations for waterproof covers or cases for the starter battery? The front of my Hood Louvers are over the battery terminal a bit and although prob fine the though of it directly over the lover is unsettling. Figure some cover to protect some shock or damage is a good idea. I have always had it covered (even though I know I have gotten it went plenty of times).

    That calculator is awesome!

Think I'm gonna go with the 4.30. Sounds like it'll be too overboard rev wise on the highways going to 4.56.

That would be my take. My buddy went 4.56 on his manual but with 295's and says its perfect but cant recall the freeway but didnt seem too bad from what i recall.

I went with 4.30 in mine. Glad I did it. 4.56 would have been over kill. I was more concerned with driving on the highway and this combo is perfect. It also provides the perfect getty up.

edit. I went through ecgs. They didn’t have a 4.30 package at the time so they made it for me. Ecgs in the back and nitro gear in the front.

Another thing to consider is if you plan on RC62F swapping your truck in the future (3rd gen 6spd) then they have a double overdrive and you may be able to go a little more aggressive.

That has also been on the list of things to do and I was kind of taking that into account.

Just gonna have to plug that transmission into the calculator now and see what pops out.

This is correct. In my new truck (manual) I’m having 5.29’s swapped in this week.

That was my first thought but I do not have factory connections anymore at least on the + side. I think I’m using SDHQ terminals.

Eventually I’d like to just move it to the bed pit if the engine bayz

@nudavinci64 just an idea, what about mounting a piece of acrylic or ABS (you can mold ABS with heat gun) and make a splash guard. Quick install or test fit could be zip tied to power cables.

you could potentially mount it to the hood just to diver water away from electronics.

I can't leave anything well enough alone

4.56. I had 4.56 with 33", no issues at all, could have gone 4.88. Now with 35's I'm still happy with the 4.56. I am auto though, and heavy. But even before the weight, I can say that I thought the 4.56 is better than stock gearing in all the scenarios that I drive in, including highway/freeway in AZ, where 85mph is normal.

4.56 is nice for an Auto wit your Config and Mine. Although the 35's make it a bit debatable. 4.3 is similar to 4.56 in the MT.

not a bad Idea. I was thinking of some type of cover that pushed towards the engine.

With RC62F 4.45 gears and 33" tires will be as close as you can get to the stock 3rd gen manual. I recall it was only 50-60rpms different.
