I was a dummy, I guess, and filled my bed to the brim with dry soil and hauled to the dump. And my already needed new bearings. Hopefully no damage was done. Won't be trying it again.

A yard of dry topsoil is around 2000 lbs, if it's soaking wet the same load can be 3000 lbs.
Now the really light stuff like what comes in bags of Miracle Grow isn't as dense, but I've not seen that grade of potting soil sold by the scoop/yard.
My dad used to have a '94 Mazda pickup and we made the mistake of getting a full scoop of wet fill dirt that was mostly clay and rock, and when I say wet, I mean it had been drizzling for 24 hours and still was when we loaded. The suspension bottomed out and the tires were rubbing on the bed for our short ride home. I'm amazed nothing broke. We know better now...

This, many forget about water weight even if it hasn't rained lately.

That's why I was curious what form it was in. I've hauled a shitload of bags of that type stuff before with zero issues. It was not with my truck but a Nissan Frontier FWIW.

If your talking potting mix(the stuff that goes in the plant pots). The answer is yes. 1 cubic foot weighs approx 6 lbs. there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard. 27x6=162 lbs. if it’s wet maybe double, even if it’s triples your still good.

I just noticed this crack in my frame and I would not be surprised if it happened while transporting the full load of dry sandy topsoil.don’t make the same mistake!

LOL. The problem with your frame is that rust ate a hole in it.
