I’m in the market for some SL or LT 33” tires and want to keep weight to a minimum. And price.

So my question is who is the next up and coming tire manufacture in the likes of Toyo, Falkens, etc…

Started making great tires at an affordable price point that drew the masses?

Quality issues are hitting the big brands. Popular brands like toyo/nitto and cooper have a lot of complaints lately.

Falken is doing well still and has more choices for 2022 for midsized trucks.

Yokohama is another brand that is consistent and has numerous choices

Nokian Outpost AT. I am running Toyo AT3's but I looked for Nokian first... they brought the Outpost out to market after I purchased. @Stocklocker is running them, he seems happy with them.

    I run thier winter's ( Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV's ) I am very impressed.

I had the Toyo AT3's, was decent. Sold them for the grabber ATX, imo grabbers are nicer.

Ran Geolanders a lot in the past. Liked them. I think my next set tho will be those MT Baja Boss tires. Haven't heard complaints there yet.

Your going to get different opinions on almost every tire both good and bad. Falken's have been iffy for some as far as balancing and others swear by them. I was set to try Toyo and now hearing some stories about them. Only tires I have not heard of any problems although I am sure some have has been Michelin, MT and Yokohama. I have run Michelin for years and never an issue and never had to replace with less than 100k miles on them. I was hoping to try something different and save a little money, but maybe not.

My main reason for posting was to see if any have tried any new “upstarts” that have been surprising good and at a reasonable price.

I remember when Falkens hit the scene people were buying sets of 4 for under $600.

Are there any new manufactures that fit the bill?

Nokian is a newer brand in US market. They recently opened a plant in TN and will focus on LT tires.
They get high reviews and give 60k tread warranties.

Not a new brand but the new Toyo RT Trail is intriguing. My brother runs geolanders and likes them.

I got them also and was more than impressed with them on a wheeling trip.

A bit more tread squirm on the road than the Wildpeaks, but really good overall.

I've been torn between the Michelin LTX AT2s or the Geolandar AT G015s. Michelin is the established name but pricey. I look at Yokahama is the up and coming upstart :) Both seem to be rated/reviewed almost evenly. Since I spend the vast majority of my time on paved roads I don't need anything overly aggressive where I would have to give up a lot of street manners.

I've heard nothing but fantastic things about Michelins if you are going to be on pavement. Quiet, lasts forever and pavement performance is second to none.

I just went through this and decided on Mickey Thompson Baja boss a/t SL version to keep the weight down 42-43lbs each for 265/75r16, but they are a bit pricey. They replaced ridge grapplers.

Interestingly enough, I checked with SE Toyota because they were having a "buy 3 get one free" sale this month and they don't carry the Michelin LTX AT2, only the Defender LTX which is a highway tire. My wife has them on her Prius and they are great, just not for the truck. Their sale price basically just makes them competitive with the tire shops in the area anyway, so I won't be heartbroken not to buy from them.

I was looking at the Kendra Clevers for $400 on Ebay. I am running super light grabber HTs this week. I love my Falkens but for cruising through winding mountain roads. I prefer the Grabbers.
