My guy won’t throw anything away. He put the broke blade on the cart, the scrap bin is beside the saw. Almost made it :frusty:

When he goes to lunch, it will make it.

Been thinking about how to make this piece. I tried to make it in one piece with the hot wrench. Fail.

    2 piece it is.

@prise this is the latest mini creation, started on it in June.

    Hi guys!
The "non rod side" of a cylinder will always win because there is more area on the base side of a cylinder piston.
What you have is probably trapped pressure in the cylinder, between the control valve and the cylinder itself. I doubt the reliefs are adjustable so you are gonna have to somehow cycle the valve until that trapped pressure is vented. Watch out cracking pressure lines or you can take a bath (or worse) like your buddy.
Why would the relief crack both ways? Air does strange things lol. start bleeding at the pump and work out to the functions.
Worst beating I ever got was from a 1/4" hose. I was underground in a tunnel doing testing in a confined space. At 5K psi the fitting let go and that hose about beat me to death before I managed to hit the e stop. I needed lots of stitches and I had welts and bumps all over me. Never mind the oil was around 125 F. Had to wait 45 minutes to get a ride to the surface.
    Fun times. Be careful.

This never even occurred to me... D'ohhhh!!!!!! Thank-you!!!

My plan is to support the bucket with the forklift and bleed from the pump back, and yes, well aware of the entertainment that can arise from a hose when it suddenly has a place to let the pressure escape to... my hope is not to take a bath or a face-full.

I did some digging on Eaton Compressors a few years ago for a work related purchase of a 75hp machine, even spoke to them on the phone, we ultimately went with a Sullair based on both the machine and the support available.

For Eaton piston units in the 5-7.5 hp range I found it complicated...

Sticking with our flagship Saylor Beall compressor for a moment, go to their website and look around. Try to answer questions about the performance, construction, valves, bearings and where the pump is actually manufactured.

I can save you the effort -- it is all readily available right there, easy to find and easy to understand - "transparency" in business terms.

Now try to answer the same questions about an Eaton product -- not very easy to the point of not really possible - although there are a lot of "words" available. Notice I said "product" - Eaton, the parent, is marketing units under several brands through different avenues.

Now let's turn to marketing. I have a real issue making a major and long term purchase through any box store/mass marketer/web only business. Take the example of a Kubota tractor over one purchased through Northern Tool or TSC.

If your Kubota has an issue you can take it to a local dealer, or the one in the next town or next state even. Even if the unit is several years old the dealers can still get parts and service it. If you purchased from TSC they don't service anything and for information you might get told "we don't sell that one anymore, sorry". :notsure:

A quality compressor will last decades in a busy shop with regular maintenance, for the smaller shop it might be a lifetime purchase so spending a bit more on the front end isn't quite so difficult.

At the old job the policy was "do anything you can to improve the process..." :)

    And then
"we spent a lot of money on that, is it done yet???" :annoyed:

We have a Sullair here at work, it’s 3 phase, 7.5HP, and been pretty good to us. It’s not really that quiet though.

Here is the largest compressor I have in the archives, Quincy QR 325, Rolls Royce class.

This is a giant, the pump body is about 28" tall, it has a Wisconsin twin for power. Entire unit weighs just under 1200 pounds.

    KIMG2519.jpg

It was a 500 mile round trip to fetch this one. Sorry for the poor photo, it is kind of boxed in.

The gadgets on top are pneumatic unloaders. As this machine has a gasoline engine the pump spins all the time, these vent the pump when the tank is at full pressure.

I put some 12 oz soda cans in for scale, this is a massive unit, 60" tall to the top of the air cleaner.

Everyone posting pics of compressors. Here is ours:
    20221013_160053.jpg
Five gal bucket for reference in behind it. 193 psi 20hp. Very quiet.
I won't post mine from my personal shop. I think I am the 5th owner. It sounds like a hailstorm on a tin roof when it runs. I am ready to shoot it and put it out of it's misery. I would show you a tag but there is none, even under the 36 coats of paint.

Gonna break down and get a simple 5hp 20 gal vertical tank when I have a minute.

Seriously, I cringe when I have to use air tools. My wife cannot be at home. My neighbors 900 feet away will duck with this thing starts. My streetlights dim.
