I second this. Not a big rye guy but Michter's and Sazerac are tasty. I'll also pick up a Sagamore every now and then to support my buddy Kevin Plank.

Elijah Craig Rye is a good go-to of mine when making an old fashioned. It’s around $30

I’ve heard really good things about Sagamore, maybe I’ll see it at a bar one day for a taste.

Man that’s a really kind offer. I’d absolutely take you up in that. My wife has found it’s one of her favorites. Will shoot you a PM.

When I was in FL I saw the RRSB Rye and got very excited. However I asked the guy down there who’d been advising me on stores to hit (from another forum), and he said Russell’s Rye has a very piney taste to it. That’s not my flavor profile so I passed. Was he way off?

RR 6 year rye makes a killer manhattan.

Also I'm just sort of a Turkey whore. But you knew that.

Anyone have any experience with High West Rendezvous? Don’t recall seeing this before.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll get right on looking for a couple of these. I did remember that my SIL gave me a bottle of James Pepper 1776 Rye one year for Christmas and I liked it a lot. I'll have to revisit that one too.

Is this just fun decoration on the normal small batch or is there something unique about the juice inside?

Not even the small batch, just the straight bourbon whiskey.

I have one from last year my friend gave me for my bday.

Pulled the trigger on Woodinville, and plan to open it tomorrow. I was intending on picking up some Buffalo Trace for back up, but found some Eagle Rare and made a pivot to it.

I’m curious about liquor taxes in other states. I know I shouldn’t complain since I’m finding good whiskey at good prices, but I feel like Washington State is gouging it here.

Total tax was roughly 27% (sales + liquor). I’m still surprised every time I checkout.

It’s been a while since I’ve had Rendezvous, so I can’t tell you much besides I liked it then moved on to other things. Their Bourye was one of the best whiskeys I’d had but now it’s harder to find too.

For the price try Double Rye if you haven’t already. It used to be my go to rye for a while, need to grab some now that I think of it…

As you can probably tell, I used to be a big HW fan. I just started seeking out other stuff and it went on the back burner. I think I’ve had just about all of it besides the Midsummer/winter dream stuff.

Todays picks. BIL was gifted a bottle of Wilderness Trail and said it was awesome. Finally spotted some around here. They had this, a yellow label and rye…

Yesterday was a bit of a shitty day for me regarding a work situation. Today I had a medical appointment an hour away, so on the way home I got to explore some liquor stores I only see once a month, and I had a “fuck it, I’m gonna buy whatever I want today” attitude. So I picked up the Sagamore double oaked rye and another Wilderness Trail BIB. When I got home I had small tastes of each. Because, fuck it.

The double oak is excellent, thanks for the rec! I would likely buy another, the store I got it from is the only one I’ve been to that carries it.

I found the Wilderness Trail to be a tad disappointing, it has almost no nose and the flavors are so mild that I’m having trouble even identifying them.

Let me know what you think.
