Thinking of replacing my single rear sliding window with a dual slider

Yeah, pretty pointless but I like the look better and it will give better air flow in the summer.

Are they big enough to climb through?

I hate that I cant climb through mine to get to the bed if im stuck in a mud puddle and need to throw someone a tow strap.

Anyone have any experience buying from eBay? Install price?

The price seems to be right, can't say anything about a e bay purchase, I wanted to replace the center tinted glass on mide as it is scratched and the price for that at the dealer was crazy expensive, I doubt that you could crawl thru the e bay item with out tearing it up unless you have a really skinny ass.

That's a good price if you're able to install it yourself.

I did this exact "mod" to my truck a couple years ago. There was nothing wrong with my old window, it was just something i wanted done. I paid just over $300 for it installed.

 

Too bad your not in Socal. Id be glad to trade you. I really wish I had a single slider. Dual sliders are so much harder to open. Ive though for a while about swapping the windows on my truck and my folks taco but I dont think they'd be really thrilled.

As for install, its easy dont pay anybody. I just installed a window on my buddies toyota 4wd.



Keep an eye out on Custom Tacos. The lowered guys will often swap out their sliders for a solid back window and sell the slider cheap.

 

I fit through mine once... but I'm about 6'0" and 155. My dog crawls through it sometimes... she likes to sit on the toolbox in the back for some reason. As soon as I get her into the bed (truck bed perverts) she jumps right onto the toolbox and lays down.

 

Does anybody know why I don't have a sliding back window? Every other 1st gen tacoma I've seen does, so I'm wondering was mine replaced at some point or was this offered from the factory but not very popular?

Personally I want to swap dual slider for single. I hate the dual, PITA to open and close

 

The dual slider in my prerunner is real tough to open and close. the latch also doesn't hold up very well. mine was broke when I bought it and got it replaced and that one broke. So now it's kept closed with dowel rods. I like the single slider much better. But that might just be me.

 

id be willing to trade someone for my dual sliding windows for a solid, but the lock is broken fyi but i really want new window without it sliding i think it would look alot better on my truck just pm me if interested and maybe we can set something up

I have a dual slider and I love it. Truth be told, I COULD squeeze through my window in an emergency, and I'm 6'0" and 205 lbs. My weight doesn't really do my size justice. I work out, so I'm pretty darn big. Still, it'd be easier not to have to squeeze through it.

And the latch isn't bad. My friends open and close it all the time when they ride with me and get it on first try.

 

I have the single slider...I'm 6' 140ish and have no problem getting through it!

 

i wish i didnt have a slider they are to easy to break into i have locked my self out of my ride and popped mine open with a screwdriver then pulled up the lock. To easy to get into!

 

^^i always thought of figuring out how to break into my taco, and hide like a lil spudger to push that latch open...

gonna look into this one next weekend!

I would never try to squeeze through the opening because I'd hate to be the focus of a crowd's attention when they're trying to remove me from it with Crisco and a winch.

 

You old men just need to gain more flexibility . I'm bigger than 44" across the chest and I could do it if in a pinch (I wouldn't enjoy it though...)
