The new GM small block v8s have something like 17 different cylinder combinations to run on depending on load, temperature, etc….for fuel economy.
The system sometimes fails and takes out the cam and so on.

 

I didn't think the 6.6L had the dod but I don't really know. I was looking at the HDs because I could get a regular cab, minus the graphic I like the Alsakan snow plow prep pkg. Somebody in the neighborhood got a black 4dr HD all black that thing looks nice.

I'm not really into SUVs, and rather drive a pick up, but I wouldn't mind getting a GX.

 

IMO TRD off road is the best bang for your buck. If you don’t care about the locker, SR5 is very capable truck.

Trd off-road is exactly same height as SR5, suspension is same except for shocks.

 

So, if that’s the case installing a tad bit bigger and better tires and rims later on wouldn’t be an issue.

 

All trims are the same as far as wheel and tire fitment. They all share the same wheel well and front independent suspension.

 

No it won’t. In fact you can buy an SR and install same larger tires that you would on a pro. It’s not the height but the width that limits tire size on these trucks. Suspension Lift does not help clear larger tires on these trucks, it just changes the starting point, it still cycles the same way as stock.

 

This is an over debated topic on here, but it’s the start of the hockey season and I am drinking, so I will share my useless thoughts as if they will convince you one way or another.

Not all TRD trims are the same. Pick your poison.

I traded in my SR5 for a TRD off-road because of these things in order:

1) inclinometer
2) manual transmission
3) rear locker
4) A-TRAC (off-road traction control)

 

You made the right choice my friend. I wish I could’ve got DCSB TRD OR with MT up here…

Go with the SR5.
Fwiw, I went with the trd sport cuz I dont need a locker (Had F/R lockers for years on my Jeeps and used them maybe 3 times). Didnt want all the extra shit like leather, moonroof, and insane price tag that came with a Pro. Also, with the Sport I was hoping to see those panties flying off for the scoop...LOL.
But also I got lucky cuz it was available. I only had about a 2 week wait from time I put down deposit to driving it home. That might be something to consider too. Whats available and how long youre willing to wait. That might not be an issue for you, but it was for me.
I am totally 100% happy with my decision, but if an SR5 was available, Id have been all over that instead.

 

Not if you dont care or need a inclinometer, locker, or ATRAC.

Umm I was replying to a dude that off-roads. So do I.

 

I asked myself the same question. Started looking at the different trims and came to this conclusion:

1. Trd models come with fluff like the bed converter, push to start, and optional moon roof and leather seats, and the useless Qi wirelees charging. Both OR and Sport have diff suspensions. And both CAN come with the LED headlights but isn't guaranteed. They do have that little L shaped drl if they don't have full leds

2. Trd offroad has a rear locker and multi terrain select, which sets it apart from sport and sr5. The suspension is also softer

3. Trd sport has a hood scoop and stiffer suspension.

4. SR5 has all the basics of the TRD models without the fluff listed in #1. No bed converter, no push to start, no moon roof, no leather seats. Saved myself 10k and spent it on a lift, new wheels, tires, morimoto headlights and some other goodies

Really it comes down to your budget and preference. Ex) color, short or long bed, packages, add ons etc
