Well, today is the day. In the first week of Nov 2021, I ordered my 22 OR Premium MGM. And in just a few hours, I will be picking up my vehicle. It has been a long wait, with a lot of back and forth with the dealership to find out when it will be here, even being told I may be switched to a 2023, but now I am getting what I ordered, at the price that I signed up for, and I am sure I am going to be happy.

Am I the only one that’s noticed the 2023 trail edition is now more than the off road premium?

the trail price is high. I honestly think its just marketing. throw a few accessories on an SR5 at full retail and call it a new trim level. dealers have been doing it for years. I am not sure what all
you get but from what I see is Blackout Badging, Predator side steps, and rear blocks and longer front springs for a "lift" and the bronze wheels.

when I bought my 2022 off road premium the trail was about $1,000 less than mine and $2000 more than a non premium off road.

I think for 2023 the trail gained push button start and proximity lock/unlock.

I’d pay $1,000 more if the trail was a trd off road premium with the bronze wheels, lift etc but for me the off road premium features were worth more than what the trail has to offer.

Same here.. Took the OR premium 2022 trim. For me, it would be a nonsense to buy a 50k vehicle without leather, push start, and remote access... the last time I had to turn a key to start my car was in my 2008 base nissan versa.

Doesn't the 2023 model manual finally have push start?

Edit: I sure hope not because the clutch bypass ride your starter in 4Low up a rock face thing is really cool

Trail is for people who love looking more than functionality. It's just targeting on different buyers, fair to me. But over all, not worth it.

Disagree with this one. Personally bought a Trail because it was simple. No power sliding rear, no push button start, no proximity door lock, no remote start, no fancy LED lights (that do not melt ice), useless 4x4 modes, no sunroof, no leather interior etc

It comes with a rear locker and just so happens to look good, but everything else is less prone to complications.

Just my take...and I may be the rarity.

yes, it’s all about the clutch start cancel switch. No push button with that, The push button switch would have to be re-thought in order to incorporate more levels of switchery.

    Hello,

Here is my story for others waiting for their truck. I put a deposit (and a BMW 340i 2016) in mid-April, from a dealer in Montreal (not really a place where you go buy a Tacoma) for TRD OR Premium LR. Initially, I was told 3-4 months, but you can order the configuration and color that you want. About a month after. I requested an update from my dealer, but no answers. Few no answer, later, I went in person to the dealer. I was red. This is when they explained to me the marvelous allocation system from Toyota (I won't let anybody tell me anymore that Toyota is a reference in continuous improvement). At that time, I was not really in a hurry. I had a beater and I needed the truck for the hunting season in October (made this super clear back in April). I got offered a trail in June, which I refused. Still no allocation in June and July. Finally, in early August, I got a call from the dealer for a TRD OR Premium Silver, ETA end of September. I said yes because I really wanted to have it for hunting season. I was under the impression it was a done deal.

Well, August, September, and the hunting season came, but still no truck. And ETA moved to October 15th. It was now too late... and my beater (Cadillac CTS) is not the solution. So I called the dealer to see if they could lend (or lease) something suitable for a week. I got a negative answer. I went hunting and walked a lot to get to my spot every day.

Last week, got a call, the truck was in transit and it will be delivered tomorrow, exactly 6 months after my initial deposit. Am I happy? kind of. Was it a good experience? totally not. Since April, interest rates went up. They made interest on my exchange. They tried to sell me a bunch of stuff (without too much pressure, good), like an odb lock at 399$ and pretended that it was a deal (retails at 200$ installed on the vendor site). I had to go to Toyota finance (initially, the dealer told me that banks had better rates). Basically, I had all the disagreements. Max profit for the dealer.

Good luck with your next acquisition

The 2023’s are out. Saw these today at the local dealer in Burnaby, BC.

The new PRO is more orange than red. The line green is now a regular color.

    40th anniversary 4runner also pictured.

That solar octane actually looks really good.
