:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/Susan. I'm heading to New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) today; I volunteered to be a grid lineup something-or-another. "No skill required", good thing too because it's my first time doing something like this. I'm looking forward to it!

Thank you for doing that. I’ve driven the pace car a couple of times at the Glen. I can say I led a lap lol.
I always go to the corner and grid workers and thank them. A few will wave to me from the other side of the lineup. Keep your head on a swivel. Be consistent.

Ice storms are a whole different ball game. unfortunately, it’s starting to be more normal and water content is higher in the snow. That’s why I installed the winch cause I bent the lift arm 3 times over the past 5 years. I said enough is enough. Having to get up off the seat and lay on the arm to lift it was getting old.

You'll really enjoy it. It's always a good day at the track. The sound, the smell and most of all the people.

Side business, fixing and reselling? Impressive line up for the winter.

    Same here.

Rained most of the day yesterday. I was able to take care of a few inside maintenance items and smoke a bacon wrapped turkey breast in the afternoon. Today is all about doctors' appointments, I have 2 of them, my cardiologist and a new ENT guy. I have muffled hearing in my right ear that I need to know exactly what is going on. On the way home from the doctors' appointments I will stop for another load of soil, the last load.

Couple of pics from yesterday's cook. Came out juicy and delicious. I did also inject the turkey breast.

After showing her your pics Mrs. SpruceMica has informed me my next smoke will be a bacon wrapped turkey breast. Curious how much bacon was required...

Required a pound of regular sliced bacon. Thick sliced bacon does not work as well. I Have a Weber EX6 and used a feature called smoke boost from 1:45 till 2:30. the smoke boost temp is usually around 180 degreed. I cannot control this temp. Then I turned the grill up to 300 degrees, turning and basting the turkey every 30 minutes with the leftover injection liquid. Took it off the smoker at 4:15 when the internal temp of the turkey was 165 degrees.

Forgot to add that I do remove the turkey skin.

Overhauled this one 3 years ago.

    No compression. Puked oil.
It’s now on my backup blower.

Son’s blower blew up and he wanted a new one.
So frame was in great shape.
    Put the two together.

You can save a lot of money piecing the machines together. Nice action pic.

    Yeup
Fine tuning it before I put the belt covers on.
If the snow is cement, I use this one. It’s more narrow than anything else I have.

Punching through ice the first pass is the hardest and this one does it the best.

Speaking of ice, 2 days ago I went out and picked up 200lbs of calcium.
Figured I better get it now instead of when I need it .

Looks similar to mine. Got a Toro 1028 that's given me 16 years of good service with only minor repairs. Thinking I may replace the rubber friction drive wheel. Gotta believe it's getting hard with age. I've scuffed it to remove any glaze on it every few years. Should I replace it at this age?

That stuff don’t show up until a storm is coming. Then they jack the price. I have 2 buckets and that usually runs the winter. I buy at the end of season

I doubt I’ll ever be too mature to be fascinated by my truck. It represents a few things for me. Buying it was probably the first purely selfish thing I’ve done after putting the needs of family ahead of my own for 30+ years. I certainly didn’t need a truck but just decided I wanted one. It took a almost two years of searching but I found my 1st gen. It belonged to the father of the woman I bought it from, he had recently passed away as had my own father and her mom was suffering from dementia as my father had the last few years of his life. The common experiences created kind of a bond between us and I think of her and her mom and dad every time I climb in the truck. I didn’t realize it until after I added the tonneau cover but it reminds me of the red Ford Ranchero with a black tonneau HO slot car my dad gave me for my birthday when I was maybe 11 or 12 years old. All that asides, I enjoy wrenching on it, the satisfaction of making things a little better than they were. I keep it spotlessly clean and get a kick out of the unsolicited compliments it gets from complete strangers. Last week my neighbor offered to take the brush and downed tree limbs from hurricane Ian to the local landfill for me in his F150 because he thought my truck was “too pretty to go to the dump”.
My head tells me it’s just a Plain Jane old truck but my heart tells me something vastly different and I will remain completely unapologetic for my fascination with my truck. And with that:
