Nah. I have a case and a 1050ti sitting here, but no intention of building anything at the moment. Games are pretty low on the list right now, and what I want to play will run on my laptop. Especially important because the only time I ever seem to have time to play a game is in a hotel room, at home I have projects I want to work.

How close are you to putting something together on that?

I booked an entire week of vacation in november and have absolutely no intention of going anywhere. Thats how bad I just want to tune out the world and work on shit in the garage right now.

    Ah makes sense.

Even now my PC handles the task with ease since I only game at 2K.

The 'new-old' build still needs ram, a case, and a PSU.

The 'new' build I just placed the order for a cpu (I5 12400) and mobo (Gigabyte B660M Gaming AX). This will keep me ahead of the game for a good 5 years (realistically a good 6-7).

Architecture in the Alder Lake CPU's went back somewhat old-school in that some use only P cores (no E cores) which alleviates tasks being handled incorrectly (and often) by E cores which disrupts gaming, programming, etc.

Their single core benchmarks easily put it ahead of R5's costing double what the I5 does too.

I think I averaged 9 years between builds, and never went top of the line. Was always happy with it.

Going to get a fancy monitor to go with that new contraption?

they do look fun but man they look like they'd be tipsy on most terrain out here. Feel like they'd be ideal for snowy/muddy fire roads but I wouldn't want to go climbing or crawling with one

Pushing 6 years on my 6700K as we speak.

I am at 4.4ghz so that helps, not to mention 32gb of ram at 3000mhz.

As for monitor, I'll use the same one I've got now which is an HP Omen.

I'll never go "high end" on a PC again, and haven't for over 12 years now.

The Intel I bought is more of a budget cpu, and only 1 step up from the 'best bang for the buck CPU in 2022' which is the 12100F at $100.

    I don't know why I thought I had 64gb

Had to update CPU-Z since I had an old ass version; those are the specs!

The crazy part is how expensive both DDR5 ram is, as well as the boards that support it.

Oh man. There's an even smaller one. Downright cartoonish.

Yeah, they look sketchy on anything off-camber. Would be a sweet ski bum vehicle in this part of the country.

@Kwikvette speaking of purple, my Halloween costume gets here today

Sofia wants to be a princess and wants Rebecca to go as a queen, I volunteered to be a dragon so I don't have to wear a king costume

I'm thinking about it. I really want to build something that can handle lightroom. The new-old build might be able to except for the video card I have and wanted to use.

I see what you did there

My new-old is for some older PC games; hell I might even run all my emulators on it and throw it in with the garage TV.
