4 years in 37s without proper clearancing? And you still complain about rubbing?

Sounds like some mall crawler bullshit.

You really love to pull single bits out of my posts and make a comment on them.

Did you also see I need to properly setup my suspension? But yeah…I don’t go wheeling too often these days. Moved from Utah to CA a few years ago. Now I work too much to go anywhere and if I do it’s a long drive. I also only own the Tacoma and no garage so doing any big projects is a bit tough. Don’t have the convenience to trailer my truck around and buy something to daily.

Also I’m a bit weird I guess. I like the building and tweaking part almost more than the using part. I’ve been that way with all of my previous builds. Kind of waste. I’m not super into hardcore off road like you. I got that out of my system loooong ago during rock crawling competitions.

I have done extensive tubing, and wheel well trimming, I am running 37s, and my tires are hitting my fire wall. I believe this is due to a bad alignment where the hubs were pushed all the way back, or so I am told. I didnt know that was possible.

I hesitate to reply since someone will take this out of context, but that’s possible. Really negative (I think - I can never remember if it’s negative or positive so double check first) caster will angle your wheels closer to the firewall resulting in rubbing like that.

Unfortunately the misinformation has been spreading. The was a post about fitting 37’s. Not the first post I’ve run across like this. I hope nobody forgets the bullshit claims Marlin made at the beginning. He’s not an idiot, he knows what it takes to stuff a big tire in a small hole and he chose to market his kit as a no cut solution for fitting 37” tires. He knew the attention it would draw and the suckers that would buy in and at a hefty price tag. Fuck that.

Let me guess, you are challenging the fact that I do used to this? Well you are in luck. Only one pic though (back before digital cameras). It was a long time ago. If you want I can detail the vehicle for you?

Wish I had a better pic though. It was a lot better built when I stopped. Also note I didn’t say that to brag. Just pointing out I used to do more “hardcore” off roading but don’t anymore. You got me though!

Was a lot better before I parted it out. 1 ton running gear, fuel injected 350, 39’s, boat sides and comp cut rear fenders, super low crawl ratio - I think near 200:1 or something.

I eventually stopped because one dude I was competing with broke something and didn’t have the part he needed so he was in the process of having one helicoptered in. Realized at that point I was in over my head and stopped.

But anyway…back to talking about the RCLT kit and how it fits 37’s without trimming. :anonymous:

    Stock-ish
So you have a shiny, expensive long travel kit (Rclt thats bumps lower than the Rclt already bumps with no extra work) thats probably the same travel as stock travel with a bracket lift? (Post your travel numbers when you get those).

What do you mean bump is set to 2"? If you have a 2" bumpstop in the stock spot, you are well, well , well far away from "LT".

Just doesnt make sense to me, if you're doing/needing 37s, you should be doing it all the way and have/want to learn the know how to fit them. And, cutting shouldnt matter/you shouldnt worry about it since you already had to cut the frame for the steering rack, and thats your only option from here on out. Why would not want to cut more fender/tub and maximize the kit?

My mid travel daily that I wheel everywhere clears 37s throught the whole travel cycle (8.5-9" or whatever mid travel cycles) , besides nicking the cab mount bushing and scuffing the dirt off of the inner fenders (~.75" of body travel through whoops, didnt think the cab had that much travel)

Yes, the Rclt has beefier arms/steering rack than mine as I'm still stock there, but I actually havent been able to break my truck yet over 55k miles with 35s, and around 5k miles with 37s, and thats with hitting any hard line that the big body of a truck lets me and trying to avoid body damage (for now).

Yes, its your money obviously, but some of us know what it takes to actually make tires fit, and actually make a LT kit work properly/get the travel that is claimed (see OPs first post describing everything he found/measured).

So, when we see that you have it bumped lower than the kit already bumps out, deep down inside we are giggling since its not "proper" so we call it.

Thats just my take on it, so take it with a grain of salt as this is just the internet.

No, my kit is from the 2nd batch. 3.5" wasnt available then and I am not sure if I would want that much width for an extra 1" of potential travel when 2.75" is too wide for many trails here. The tires are 37x13.5

I’ll definitely post them. As far as the 2” bump, I am limiting up travel, I don’t want my inner fenders cut. The RCLT bump didn’t even bump before my tire contacted my fender. I am aware of what it takes to use maximum travel from the RCLT. I have far more functionality for what I do, obstacles I’d never try on 33s. It’s what I wanted. I’ve wheeled in California, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Montana, Arizona, Missouri, Arkansas and South Carolina. So many trails I’ve done do just need a bigger tire and more clearance. I am sure my truck has more travel, obviously not the 13” people here want to see. I’ve done before and after flex ramp (didn’t do the calculations) my tire is 13” further up the ramp. I understand it might seem like a waste of money to you, it’s your opinion, RCLT does what I wanted it to do. I did not and was not going to run my firewall to fit bigger tires. The only point i wanted to make was that, any other LT suspension (that I am aware of) fits 37s without the use of a hammer and saw. Yes, I understand the rack required fab work, fab work I was happy to do for the sake of not replacing a Tacoma rack twice a year just street driving 37s, and I’ve done much more than street drive with these.

I am not contesting the marketing and information on RCLT May or May not need to be changed. Clearly with 37s and full up travel on the RCLT using their little red “bump stop” inner fenders need “massaging”. It does check a lot of boxes for a lot of people, myself included.

I will measure my travel once I am back from vacation. It’s sure to be disappointing for the purests.
