How big does these plants get? On each side of the walkway, There's going to be about 2ft for plants along the walkway. I don't want something that's going to over grown into the walkway. I dont want something I have constantly trim back.

Here's some idea I found on the web. Not with the same plants.

I have a 7ft wide walkway. I want to add colors to the plain cement look.

There are many different varieties with many different characteristics. Some are too large for what you describe but there are lower, ground hugging varieties that would work well for you. They grow slow and may require periodic pruning to either train them where you want them to go or stop them from going where you do not want them but the pruning would only be probably once or twice a year for 10 minutes, if that. Doing some internet research will show you the different options then you can decide what works best for you.

Being so close to a walkway, Do I have to worry about the roots going under the walkway? I don't want to damage the walkway.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Just don’t plant holly bushes, their roots will jack up anything in their way.

Actual, I was thinking about them.

Since you did landscaping. What's your opinion on plants for walkway landscaping?

The pumpkin grew from last years halloween toss. I had about 5 pumpkins and left them to get bigger but someone had a different idea. Lol. I was gonna feed the animals anyway but they had their own timeframe!

    What Zone are in brutha?

This helps determine what will do the best…this way we can determine what varieties of colorful shrubs we could plant.

    https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/planting-zones/massachusetts-planting-zones.htm

Do you like things to be mirrored in design, where there is a balance of numbers and placement.
    Or
Are you the kind of person who likes a botanical garden of a variety of species. In which the design is balanced thru placement, size and color?

I have the low growing variety next to my walkway and it has been there for 20 years. I don't believe it has lifted my walkway at all. Or it has I cannot tell.

Holy F I hate holly plants. I have one I've been trying to kill, unsuccessfully, for like the years.

According to Gilmour I'm in 6a, 6b, 7a. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for.

Going by your link I'm in 6b. Bristol County.

By mirrored in design, Do you mean the same plants on both side, the same distance between each plant on both side, same variety of plants?

If so, I think it would look better, or balance with the same on both side. What is your opinion? You're the pro. :D

I think the botanical garden would look nice but out of place.

Right now the walkway look boring. I want to add colors. Plus hide some defect on the side of the walkway. There's some air pockets holes or indentation marks from rocks. I'm planning to add mulch for more color.

I'll see if I can have my sister takes pictures of the walkway.

    Squirrel jerks.
Speaking of jerks; We woke up to a big steamy pile of cat poop in our garden bed.

On a nicer note we found this fall bounty starting.
