I need to know more about the horse biting story but as far as the scratch, I say don't sweat it.

Yes, I was as much in shock about it as anyone else would be, especially standing right next to it and watching it do it. Weird thing is, the body shop said mine wasn't the first they had seen (he even told me he could tell it was a younger horse by the size of the scratches...) So, pro-tip, apparently horses will do this as they like the taste of automotive paint. Not in a million years would I have guessed that! At any rate, I spot painted it and it actually didn't look horrible but for the shrieking sound that escaped me every time I looked at it until I finally just paid the deductible and had it fixed. Ironically, 11 months later I hit a deer that mangled that fender again and it had to be replaced. Should've just left it alone and ignored the horse bite.

sorry about that and shouldn't you get an estimate at a body shop instead of asking here for an amount?

I can live with scratches, but dents bigger than a dime are a no go. Touch it up and re evaluate in 6 months. Even nail polish applied properly will make it less obvious especially if you can buff out the center superficial scratch.

With you paying the deductible and them raising your rates for 3 years you are basically screwed.
I could not let something that bad stay. It would be time to bite the bullet. Good luck.

Welcome to the club. After over 2 years i picked up my fist dinger when an owner of a pos ram 2500 4wd parked to close to my truck then open his door to let his fat ass out. You can guess what happened. I considered i was lucky it was just a small dent.

Give it a little rubbing compound and touch up the bigger scratches with paint.

Personally I'd waste a good half hour with a buffer and polishing compound to see what comes out. Then I might take a toothpick and touch up that chip.

Then I'd step back and decide whether or not I can live with the rest. :notsure:

My truck has been moderately chewed up with trail pinstripes over the years. But after buffing, you really have to look to find it.

Case in point, on last months camping trip a tree branch fell on the roof and hood, and somehow shattered my mirror. The dents were worse than the scratches, but I can live with the result:

That was a small one, it literally took longer to plug in the buffer than to actually buff it out. Some of mine looked a lot like yours and never really came out, but at least after buffing you really have to put your nose on the paint and look for them to find them.

I'd try that with any scratch first before deciding if it's livable or not.

    Look and see.....
Touch-up paint from the dealer isn't expensive and it will match really well. Something that small I'm not afraid of doing myself. The applicator has a brush for larger areas on one end and a ballpoint for fine work on the other. Clean the area and dry very well, and just like painting anything else, do it in light stages and take your time. It won't look mint but you will have to search for it if you don't know it's there.

That’s pretty funny, but not quite as expensive to fix as the cow licking incident at my work…

a buddy parked the work truck in a field, and when he got back it was surrounded by cows. They were licking the truck down to bare metal all over it!
