Don't be nervous on bios flash. These days it's super simple and pretty fool proof.

Ha we had no business beating y’all.
Figured it’d be best to just bios flash and put the extra money saved from not buying a new mobo towards a better gpu

I run all AIO now, did the full loops and as I got older and my free time became less free I wanted something with less maintenance. As you know with these they don't offer the same performance but I don't OC anymore either (mostly because I can now afford the higher end chips so I don't have to). I will say my 10850k does get a bit toasty on a 240mm AIO, but nothing too high that I have to think about a larger radiator and case.

Yeeeah, I was all over the Athlon MP and XP chips back when they were released and was stuck on the AnandTech forums like glue trying to fine tune my OC and case air flow. That's so freaking cool that you worked with AMD during this. I was the total cliche AMD fangirl during this time period and kept it that way for several years. My first CPU was actually the Athlon XP 2500+ and paired that with the Radeon 9200 and my AMD obsession grew from there (I only know this because I have Heatware). My first switch to nvidia was because of radeon drivers not working well with the game I was playing at the time and I haven't been back to the red side since. I wanted to go Ryzen with my latest build but someone was selling a BNIB 10850k on [H]ardForums for cheap so here I am, still on team green. Next time I hope to cross back over though.

I likely will make the switch whenever I start downloading some more games. This was my first build, and coming from a laptop with 250GB of storage, I thought 1TB would be way overkill. Crazy how fast it goes when you start downloading big shooter games lol.

Funny to see that nvidia scrubbed the 4080 12gb, or "unlaunched" it. Seems evga may have bailed at a good time.

Thats a great price! Ill have to check my local microcenter and see if they have any deals. Seems more and more likely ill go with a b550 and a 5600 for my sons upcoming build. Undecided for gpu. I love the nvidia founders edition cards, but not paying those bloated prices they are expecting at the moment.

I know, i thought this scalper bullshit was done and over with. Maybe people banking on 4090s being sold out in the first few days of launch and exploit those who didnt get one?

If anyone is in the market for a new 1440p monitor, Dell has their s2721dgf for $179 which is an absolute steal

Solid monitor choice, and definitely a solid price.

    Well, the I5 12400 arrived!

Went with that versus the 'F' variant in the event that my GPU shit the bed.

Motherboard should arrive in another day or two...will still need some RAM, a PSU, and a case.

My last 3 or so builds have all been Micro ATX and this new one is as well; so far I'm set on a Thermaltake case.

Current and last one case used was a Fractal case, both having used Corsair RAM and a Corsair PSU.

I'm set on going Corsair again for RAM and PSU this time around as well, but the biggest issue is CPU cooler.

Not that I have a power hungry CPU anyway, or have the ability to overclock, so I know I won't need to go high end at all.

This is a budget build which speaking of, MOBO just arrived!

    20221019_124341.jpg

What CPU and MOBO did you go with?
