Rear differential

    Has anyone here has seen this before on their rear diff ? No leaks though

    Looks like a factory welder was trouble shooting his SMAW gun as his buddy was removing the ground clamp and he dialed the amps way up and finally got it to ground at some point.

    I really wouldn't worry about it personally as it shouldn't cause any issues but it's definitely a very hot like weld where no weld should be.

    If you're still under warranty take it to the dealer and at the very very least get it documented if they won't replace it for a defect, if not under warranty you'd probably do best to forget about it and not let it bother you.

    In that case it's more than likely a machine calibration test spot as the axle tubes are machine welded, wasn't sure if the diff ring was or not but it most likely is.

    Again a non issue but worth documenting and seeing if you can get a replacement because why not?

    I never documented just happen to be swapping suspension this weekend and noticed that unfortunately my truck is 5yrs old and is at 85,000 miles right now so far thank god my rear diff never leaked is a 2018 trd off road but thank for the quick reply brother.
