My beef with baseball , besides the pace , is that is really not a team vs team game , in the sense that at any time there is a maximum of 4 players against the other team .

 

i'll stay out of the military opinion for the most part cause i do not serve. though if i may, he's right, the reasons are endless. a lot of my high school class joined because they couldnt afford college and couldnt get a good job out of high school. . .my room mate on the other hand has his college paid for, is smart and could have a good future in whatever field he wanted to pursue, yet he's enlisted and heading to marines boot camp in may. just wanted to serve his country.

and as for the senators, from a history standpoint there was a big debate between the federalist and anti-federalist and the late 1700's on whether there should be representation based on a states population or whether it should be an equal number (2) from each state. a compromise resulted in both. . . now why we vote for them, is just because we have 10 times the population of Canada (by you question im assuming you have a different system, i'll refer to other thread for that answer). we have to be a more spread out, and largely representative government because of our size and that people voting on everything independently would only look out in their best interests, not that of all the people.

 

There can only be 4 players of the batting team involved in the game at any point during play .

 

yeah well the runners arent the key influence on the game. there are sidline coaches telling them when to run. it goes back to his other answer, it's a chess match between the pitcher and the batter.

 

My point is , to me that is not a classic team sport in the way I think of team sports .

I guess hockey does move fast if you are accustomed to the 5 hour " chess match " you call a baseball game .
