Probably would not buy that particular one but i would consider something a little more quality.

The amount it protects? Not much, leading edge, maybe. The grill and surround/ bumper are more prone to take a hit then edge of hood.

Looks like one of the things you could get from a JC Whitney catalog, along with “glue on headers” for your doors!

Mine came with the truck and I want to take it off. Gonna be a pain since it's attached with adhesive.

i just don't like how they break up the body lines on these newer trucks with the painted/formed plastic facia.

but that said, i think any truck earlier than 2000 from ford, chevy, toyota, and nissan doesn't look right without one.

I had the screw on one on my S10 ZR2 for 18 Michigan winters and no shit that was about the only area that didn't rust out. The front of the hood and paint under it was pristine.

I like the way they look so I put one on my Taco.

I had them on previous Tacomas 2004,2008 and now my 2021 and love them. Look good with the scoop and mine never build with dirt etc etc mentioned by many here. Its like anything else you like or you don't just saying.

No, the hood scoop is a fake one, only for looks anyway.

Coworker back in the day with an F150 had one of those. We were riding in his truck going to lunch and some debris on the highway bounced up and hit his deflector….problem was it deflected it perfectly into his windshield and I’m sure you guess the result. Now would it had done the same hitting the edge of the hood? Possibly but it also likely changed its direction to crack the windshield. Can’t see those things make much of a difference, if it’s not the hood, something is going to get hit.

Never was a fan, still ain't. Back in the '70s when those flat vertical ones were first introduced, (in clear & multiple shades/colors of tint) they sure f'ed-up the looks of some nice trucks, still do...JMO.:D

I had the screw on type in the '80's. It kept the Satan-spawn love bugs off the hood and a lot less on the windshield.

But it was ugly. My solution was having the truck painted with Imron and carried a bug sponge and a small bottle of Dawn with me on road trips. Get them suckers off early before they eat into the finish.

After having a bug deflector on 2 different trucks in years past i would never install another. They are useless for one, and on one truck they made my hood shake badly at highway speeds.
