Smoked a damn good brisket today and felt like reaching toward the top of my Scotch shelf. Bruichladdich may just be the best distillery in Islay, but it's a tight race for sure.

I'll jump on the @Georgeee28 train as well, the Michter's Barrel Strength Rye is amazing, probably the best rye I've tried. But the normal single barrel rye is also a good, readily available bottle as well

Went to a wedding tonight where you had to buy drink tickets for the bar. Not bad at $5.50 per ticket. Selections were "red wine, white wine, vodka or whisky" with no more detail so I order a whisky and coke. Something I'd never heard of and would not recommend to anyone.

On my second trip up I notice a lonely bottle of MaCallan 12 in an otherwise empty cabinet behind the bar so I asked what the upcharge for it would be. The guy kinda shrugged and said I dunno everything is the same price. So I had three pours of it for a whopping total of $16.50!

I’m always happy to share with fellow whiskey lovers! That Michters barrel strength rye easily turned into my favorite rye I’ve ever had. I agree with @Dr3w on the regular michters rye too, it’s pretty good. @Hook78 I can’t remember what else I sent you :rofl:but, I’m glad you guys enjoyed them

I really just went in for tequila! But perused the bourbon/whiskey section as well. I've had Blackened before but it was early in my bourbon journey. Since then it's usually been $50 which was more than I wanted to spend on this. At $43 I thought it was reasonable. I forgot how sweet this is!

What exactly is “black” brandy anyway?

sounds gimmicky like the fact that the whisky is forced to listen to Metallica

Everything was tracking along fine in the finishing description until I got to the sonic-enhancement, at which point I decided I will never buy this. I’d rather drink whiskey that’s been pummeled by the ocean I guess. Seems more peaceful and natural.

What’d you think of the SiB vs small batch?

Never had the small batch. Have a bottle stashed away but saving it for a special occasion…the single barrel was delicious though.

He gave me a sample as well, and I thought the small batch was sweeter and smoother. The SiB was great, but I personally wouldn't hunt for it at the prices it is around here when I can get the small batch for $55

I’ve opened my Woodinville Straight and couldn’t be happier with it. Thank you @cynicalrider for the recommendation! A friend and I are making plans to visit the distillery in the near future.

Would like to hear how that rye is, and whether or not it is “piney”…
