I've been noticing a lot of people doing that lately, I don't do it.

    I don't. Why would you?

In Cali it's illegal to have some sort of headset on BOTH ears.

I first saw it in California last summer, now I'm starting to see it here. Quite honestly it pisses me off.

    neglect, mostly.
i think its illegal in a lot of states. stupid either way. i remember seeing a commercial a few years ago for a lexus (i think, feel free to clarify) where they rang all the clocks in the room and you supposedly couldnt hear inside the car. i thought that was just so dumb. i want to hear the horn honking before they crash into me.

That, and imagine getting into an accident because you couldn't hear an ambulance or any emergency vehicle enter an intersection.

I personally never understood why people do that unless their radio doesnt work. Its dangerous because you may not hear things like emergency vehicles and such.

My friend's radio didn't work, so he used portable radio to play his ipod. So do that if your radio doesn't work. And i would probably crash with headphones in.

I do it all the time, anybody has yet to pull me out the truck and "slap the shit outta me" and i'm surely not maxican (though i don't know where that comes from - never seen a mexican with headphones in or out a car).
It's my phone/mp3 that has a stereo headset (as they all do nowadays - those who think it's a single on a phone, need to see a phone manufactured after 2005 or so) and whether i'm on a call or have some music in the background, mostly i have it on.
Now in fairness you guys have to assume that the volume is blasted to where you couldn't hear a "honk" or an "ambulance". Never my case, however seeing people who don't have headsets at a stoplight, yet their stereo/bass is thumping to the point where your pancreas starts to make it's way out your mouth ten cars behind them, or listening in to a phone conversation thru blasted speakers of any Mercedes/BMW that pulls up next to you at a light, or seeing dogs sitting on driver's laps day in and day out, not to mention texting......well i'd rather wear headsets. And while i'm not saying it's the best thing to do when driving, i'm saying that people worry too much about insignificant crap.
