Have this V6 Triton 6k Switchback kit from VLEDs

I'm at a loss as to how to get them to work, curious if others have used them for SR or SR5 with stock halogen housings.

I think the site I ordered from PantherLights.com forgot to include the load resistors which explains why I am getting hyperflash (obviously no resistor built-in), but still doesn't explain why they won't turn white in DRL mode.

    Anyone have experience with this?

I believe, if you look at the vleds site, the resistors are optional.

They were neither optional nor selectable on PantherLights.com, in fact it clearly states they are included regardless of what fitting or base you choose.

Not sure where it would be included though giving it already arrived in 2 separate boxes and 2 bags.

    No. I didn't need them.

I do have a Sport, so there are differences from yours. Just wanted to not that they would not have come with the Tritons.

I didn't see your second post before mine. My bad.

If it was in the listing, you should have received them.

The SR/SR5 run the DRL on the high/bright side of the stock bulbs. Aka the turn signal filaments. The DRL circuit is interrupted for the bulbs to be blinked when the turn signal is on.

I don’t see how you will be able to use those bulbs on white mode for DRL since it’s the same wire and circuit as the turn signal. Usually the VLEDS stuff like the bright and dimmed white modes are for wiring those to ignition and parking lamp circuit and the bulb knows what to do from there. A Tacoma lighting up the DRL on the turn signal circuit is not what that bulb is expecting.

I’d call VLEDS and see if they have any suggestions for that bulb on a Tacoma but I don’t think there will really be a solution.

You could still use them as an amber DRL/ turn signal bulb I believe but you’ll have a resistor wired in constantly that will get really hot when DRL is on.

WARNING Not for use in vehicles where the turn signal is also the daytime running light. For these applications us our V6 Extreme Switchback with built-in HDRL controller.

    I see.

It's not on PantherLights.com where I ordered from. They forgot to copy that info it seems.

I suggest; Remove them, re-pack them, call/email from a return & refund. Let VLED know also.

You can tap the rear turn signal, but it requires some work on your end.

Right, there's a HDRL control module which appears would meet the plug-and-play desirability.

That being said, I'm not overly impressed with them. They still require you to install Allen keys on the sides to fit the socket pattern likely so they could be sold as a 'universal' fitting. Kind of lazy engineering and you pay through the nose for it.

I installed switchbacks on my wife's 2013 Accord and it was with standard Alla LEDs and 50w 10ohm resistor harness that I metal ziptied into place. Fit tight and securely, no leaks. Have had them for half a decade, no problems. Cost about $40 all said and done.

    These...I'm not feeling it.

Lazy engineering? I don’t think you understand the tooling costs to mold a unique bulb over machining a collar adapter. It’s a large, non-zero number to appease only a few people that will complain anyway.

I perfectly understand tooling costs, it's why efficiently designed entire headlight assemblies cost nearly as much as two LED drivers; they should be designed from the ground up to be as factory-fit as possible. That's on them if they can't do that. Not a fan of 'universal' fit products, period.
