Hello Taco Family, hoping somebody can provide me with knowledge before I take my neanderthal hands and start tearing apart stuff. Recently, my 2013 Taco 4wd 2.7l has started to have, in my opinion, heating and AC issues. Heat and AC works, but only when on full blast, the second highest setting on my control dial will not do anything, neither will the lowest setting. Only when on full blast will cold air or heat come out. Anybody have any ideas as to what this is? Thanks everyone!

Your saying it doesn't blow any air at all in those positions?

If so you most likely have a failed blower resistor and/or melted resistor connector.

Those are usually symptoms from the blower motor resistor being faulty because on high the resistor is commonly bypassed.

Definitely the resistor, it’s easy to change. Common failure

There's a wire harness at the passenger footwell that gets kicked and loose. Tap around and I bet it comes back. Been happening in mine for years. If it's failing it sure is slow. Ymmv

Check these connectors and the resistor.
