ICON RXT Leaf Springs, Option 2 or Option 3?

I have king 2.5's on my rears, and they seem to be working just fine. Would imagine the Icon equivalent wouldn't pose any problems either

 

I've had both and I prefer the Icon. It just feels more refined to me. But the OME was still a dramatic improvement over the factory leafs.

 

is that unloaded hub measurements? I’m on option 2 no weight and at 25” also had 300lbs of sand in the back and it barely dropped

So I’m having the RXT option 2 put on tomorrow. I have 22 Pro with the full Westcott lift on. When adding the RXT do I leave the Westcott block or take it out?

Anyone ever have issues with axle wrap using these leafs? I'm on option 1 right now and have some serious axle wrap when applying a lot of throttle from a dead stop. Leafs are about 5 months old with no more than 10k miles on them.

 

RXT leaf packs coming in today, coupled with the ICON 2.0 res shocks. Installing on Saturday. Typically run a Leer shell, Truckvault drawer & a fridge/kitchen slide. Also pull a Smittybilt Scout trailer, so option 3 it is. May have to go with some Sumo springs or similar, will just have to see how it plays out.

 

Last year before buying them, i saw many post where people with the option 1 had some trouble with sagging on the fuel tank side and complained about some vibration when taking off. I can sure tell my truck will still lean a little on the driver side (i always keep the tank full) even with the option 2.

For the axel warp, i saw people using the false torque value in the FSM, the 37 ft-lbs should be 73. And this can cause this feeling. Myself i use 100 ft-lbs on the u-bolt. The The center bearing can have some play too but you will probably feel it when driving if it's worn.

Many people think the first option is too soft, it's why i installed the second option first. I got the lift i wanted and ride nice with my 2.5 DC. No complaint when light and it's perfect when driving with the family loaded.

 

Interesting.. This sounds like my issue because most of the axle wrap noise is coming from the drivers side. Suspension is pretty soft and I'm already pushing option 1 load weight with a cap/35" full size spare. I was planning on going option 2 once I got my HC rear bumper but I might do that now if it'll help with the axle wrap. Ubolts are all torqued to around 85-90 and everything else seems tight.

 

2010 DCSB- Shocks and coilovers are from Accutune Offroad and were tuned to my use. All installs done by me.

On the rear
-Fox performance elite riding on RXT option 3. For weight we have a Roofnest condor XL (family of 4 plus dog), AllPro Dual Swingout rear bumper, leer camper shell, AluCab 270 Shadow Awn, ARB 50qt, camp stove and misc camp gear, and the list will go on and on as i get the time and funds.

On the front
Fox Performance Elite front coilovers, Icon Delta Joint tubular UCA. For weight we have an AllPro steal front Bumper, and a Warn EVO 10S.

Still need sliders and skids.


Truck rides great. Recent build, so haven’t yet had time to mess around to much with shock adjustment, or get it off the beaten path as i’d like, but, initial hub center to fender lip yielded 2.75” lift all the way around. Granted the truck is an SR5 and with the camper shell, RTT, and awning, the stock TSB rear leafs were flexing backwards. As the suspension gets flexed, i’m sure the springs will settle a bit.

 

Got the RXTs installed, option 3. Firmed up the ride, but isn't harsh at all. Have more rake than I prefer now. Carrying an extra 175 lbs. or so up front, between the bumper, winch and skidplate. Don't want to spend another $1,000+ on new coilovers, so I'm thinking new coils on the existing 5100s......

 

What lift do you have in the front?

I’m on the 6112’s on the third notch.(about 1.5”) I’m trying to decide between option 2 or option 3. I have icon AAL in the rear right now and I’m almost completely level and with weight I swat a little. I have 5160’s and going to put a timbren flip kit on as well. Wanting some rake and weight ability.

My setup consists of a diamondback cover with 50 lbs of stuff under it and a bike rack(70lbs unloaded).

I regularly have have camping gear in the rear.

Worried that the rake will be too much with only 1.5” in the front.

Anyone let me know what they think.

I’m leaning towards 3 because I bought them off a guy and they are set at option 3 already.

 

I’m in the same boat as you right now. Looking to switch out my All Pro standard 3” leaf pack for Icon RXT leafs. The new leafs have been shipped and I should be receiving them sometime next week. I’m swapping these All Pro out as the leafs have gone flat, sag with any weight I put in the back and seem to have a harsher ride. I installed them 2 years ago and they have been squeezing like a MF lately and I’ve lost alot of my lift height. Measurements from hub to bottom of fender is 22” in the rear and 21.5” in the front. I plan to raise my front coilovers up a bit. I am using a Timbren u-bolt flip kit with them and plan to reuse them with the Icons.

My question is do I go with option 2 or 3? I am running Elka 2.5 with resi all around and have 700 lbs coils up front. My truck currently sits level with the sagging All Pro but I want to regain my rear lift height and have a bit of rake. I have front and rear steel bumpers with a winch, full size 33” Wildpeak spare in the factory location, full RCI steel skids, gas tank and rear diff. Steel sliders and a steel bed rack. Planning to add an RTT this summer. Most of the time my bed is unloaded until I go camping and I add 300-400 lbs. What option would you recommend?

 

you want rake or no?

your tent/rack/sliders are approx 300lbs. my guess is that youll be pretty level unloaded on opt 2 with. loaded youll squat a 1/4-1/2"

 

Yes I’d like a bit of rake. I’m looking to raise my coilovers another 1” and I’d like the rear to sit higher.

Good to know. Part of me is saying do option 3 for the height but I don’t want it to ride too stiff. The other part of me says do option 2 but I might be disappointed in the height once I add my RTT and gear. I’m looking to do this install once

 

it wont be too stiff. it will ride better than it did from the factory or with an AAL. i run opt 3 with sliders, a tent, and a rsi topper. the bed is empty 3/7 days of the week. my measurments from my garage floor to bottom of fender are 39.5" and im on 33's

 

^I'm on option 3 and it doesn't ride stiff. Rear still flexes more than the front on trails, despite a sway bar delete.

I have a tonneau cover and steel bumper, about 120 lb over stock when unloaded.

Do you guys happen to know what the distance is from the center of your hubs to bottom of fenders are? It’s a more accurate measurement then from ground to fenders.

 

^I measured from the bottom rim lip rather than hub center... I got 4" lift over stock. This is comparing stock truck on stock suspension with current modded truck, so the leaf pack managed 4" lift despite the added weight. I get no vibes and no takeoff shudder.
