allows me to enable or disable remote start. When “on” it allows remote start without doing “reservation mode” which is a whole sequence to ensure parking break is engaged and gear set to neutral.

I didn’t want to go with a toggle switch as that’s too easy and I didn’t want to try and hide it.

on the rare occasion I valet or service at dealer, I can turn it off and not risk someone pressing the lock button 3 times while in gear. It simply won’t work.

So normally the built in safety features are bypassed? I know they're a pain in the ass, by why did you shut them off? There's a reason most dealerships and aftermarket installers won't even put a remote start in a manual. And none of them would install one without those safety features.

Nice addition and pretty well thought out IMO. I'd be interested in seeing the wiring setup for it, did you do any mock drawings or such?

Does your MT kill the engine running when you try to open the door as our Auto trannys do? When starting via the remote?

I also have the RC neoprene seat covers. After going through 2 cheapish seat covers got them...they were somewhat of a pain but still.look new about 6 months later and do stay put.

I completed my install yesterday. At least on the '22 TRD OR the camera harness was on the passenger side and the grommet was perfect. So that is an interesting difference.
The instructions + video were pretty solid except that it took me a ridiculous amount of time to get the wire protectors into the tailgate/body. An extra instruction, "tabs on the left" would have done it. It still took me over 2 hours but I know I'm not as experienced as most everyone else here.

Back in my early 20s I was a manager at a Walmart and used to have these two collectors come in every morning looking for collectible Starting Lineup action figures. I mostly didn't care until I heard them talking about selling them for a profit. This was back in the day when every Wally World wasn't 24/7, so those guys would be there at 7 AM every day when the store opened. After I heard them talking about selling them, I started having our guys hold them in the back and not put them out until after lunch.

I don't remember how but they figured out that I was the one thwarting their plans and they complained to the store manager and then later to the district manager. Both who gave me their blessing to do whatever I wanted after the guys said to them that their problem with hold the stuff back was that the kids would come after school and get the good stuff.... I have to admit, it's the little things that amuse me. lol

Ive seen people do that before with hotwheels, come in right as the new ones are going out so they can pick over them all for the good ones to resell. I plan to give these trucks out to tacomas I find parked.

That's because they don't want to be liable, and that's entirely understandable. I figured out how and chose to do this method for myself and, with that choice, take on the responsibility it comes with.

It does not. I just need to make sure I insert the key and turn it on the on position before I press the brake pedal. Otherwise, it will turn off.

the "box" has a looped wire. I just cut at the apex, spliced, and crimped together to this - https://www.amazon.com/Philmore-Swi...=On/Off+Key+Switch+Lock&qid=1665515584&sr=8-3

I did not mock anything up, just measured the blank button and the 5/8 lock was a perfect fit. I put masking tape over the blank, measured the center, and pilot drill, then used a step drill to get the right size. The nut to secure the lock will not be able to go on due to the clips on the blank, so I used a hot glue gun to fill the cavity.

There is a nice sized cavity behind the panel where my remote start box, wiring harness, and cellular box sit snug. I also applied electrical tape to the top of the fuse (part of the wiring harness) just in case anything shifts. I don't want an electrical short, as there is a lot of metal back there.

I will eventually go back and add heat shrink for and fabric tape for a professional look.
