I’ve been away from NASCAR Racing for a long time. Is Bubba Wallace, Rusty’s kid?

Can't tell if you're serious or not, but I don't believe there's any relation.

    IMO:
This was one of those racing deals. Sometimes things get heated with 36 guys going 170mph for three hours. Some of the classic moments from this sport's history are moments when things got out of control.

    • 1979 Daytona 500 (Allisons vs Yarborough)
    • 1993 Daytona 500 (Petty vs Hillin Jr.)
    • 2011 Texas 350 (Busch vs Hornady)
    • 2017 Martinsville 500 (Kenseth vs Logano)

One person feels slighted and overreacts. That's racing. That's life.

It is a bit off-target to point fingers at Larson's squeeze move (one of his signature intimidation tactics), Wallace's overreaction, or Larson's lack of a reaction post-wreck. The common theme I see in most of the posts here is that fans doubt NASCAR's consistency in officiating. At one end, we have NASCAR saying on record "boys have at it," and "these are the greatest drivers in the world." They talk from both sides of their mouth and always try to have it their way. Their officiating is historically inconsistent to the point that everybody expects it. And I believe this is where the true frustration lies; at the feet of NASCAR, not Bubba or Kyle's actions.

Do I want fines and public rebukes? No, not really. Not unless it's a truly heinous retaliation. Unfortunately, a widow's hook is historically the most frowned upon move in racing. Bubba deserves chastisement for that move. What happened on the grass afterward is just part of intense racing.

To expect decorum from a bunch of 20-something speed junkies is asking too much of my fellow man.

I don't give a shit about the shoving part, the son of bitch shouldn't have clipped his right rear. Back in the day, it was a gentleman's agreement, not to wreck someone by clipping the right rear. That came about after the Earnhardt and waltrip wreck at the old Richmond fairgrounds.

Well dang, I called that one. Onward to Homestead:

    Homestead Average Finish:
    1. Elliott 9
    2. Hamlin 10 (3 wins)
    3. Bell 14
    4. Logano 14.8 (1 win)
    5. Briscoe 18
    6. Byron 18.3 (1 win)
    7. Blaney 18.9
    8. Chastain 28.3
    • Elliott was out of the picture yesterday, but he's doing the quiet Hendrick march to the finale.
    • I can't tell if Hamlin will be out for blood at Homestead and Martinsville or if he's truly all mouth. Time will tell.
    • Bell has been a consistent surprise and has a bright future in Cup.
    • Homestead is Briscoe's kind of track. He's a rim rider, and this track lends to rim riding. If he gets to Phoenix, where he won in the Spring, he might be the dark horse that takes it all.
    • Byron is the defending race winner here, but he's not necessarily on fire. He's doing the Jimmie Johnson thing of always being in the top 10 to get to the finale.
    • If Chastain survives the next two weekends he will make it into the final round. Martinsville will certainly be interesting.
    • Blaney is flailing yet falling upward each week. Still, he's a statistical threat at Martinsville if he can use his bumper wisely.
    • if I were any of these guys, I'd stay away from the #22. He's in a good spot to intimidate the other guys for two more weekends and mind games are a big part of his racing style.

Hamlin, yeah all mouth. I'll be surprised if he makes sure the 1 doesn't make the final 4.

I figured that he wasn’t related by just what I’m reading. Rusty was much more of a gentleman.

Rusty ran his mouth a LOT more. Huge ego. Big prankster, shady behind closed doors, but never got physical with other drivers.

So what are you trying to say? It’s possible that they could be related then?

He really only has one more chance. Based on Phoenix and Martinsville earlier in the year, I'd say these cars are going to be pretty stable and not a lot of passing.

I think Hamlin has too much respect for the sport to try and influence a championship by wrecking another driver. He's been around a long time and knows how hard it is to win a championship.

this and he’s not in a position to risk his own neck until he’s locked into the final.

    Quick poll:

For those upset with Bubba wiping out Larson, how did you feel about this move in 2017? You can't say it was different. One driver felt slighted and retaliated on track.

And Matt was racing for a Championship before Joey ended that.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
There is a huge difference in what occurred here and what you are comparing it to. Since the Stewart incident on dirt where the driver died after being hit under caution, NASCAR implemented some pretty strict rules about what drivers are allowed to do when exiting a car during a race. This was not an altercation on pit road after a race. This was a driver taking a two min walk down the front stretch with cars actively going around the track. He then assaulted a driver in the infield that had not been cleared of injury after he had just sustained a drivers side impact at 150MPH. And then he disregarded the safety crew and walked across the infield and across pit road. Bubba broke at least 5 rules that drivers are not allowed to break in his actions. Unless you are Bubba I guess...
