Scored a Free All-pro rear bumper this week. Threw a fresh coat of paint on it. Will install it sometime this week.

Congrats! Rtt life is a major upgrade, and you've already got heat! You'll lose plenty of heat through the canvas but I'm sure the diesel heater puts out excessive BTU to keep that cozy in the coldest nights!
    eBay snorkel! Looks great!

Thanks! I’ve had a few before but always soLd for odd reasons.. lol. I couldn’t pass up this deal on Amazon though. And yeah the heater on the lowest setting will keep it perfect even on the -20 nights up here.. I was debating getting some sheets of insulation, and cutting to shape. Would be easy to store just inside the tent too.

I had the same issue back a couple months ago. I sprayed them with PB Blaster a couple times a day for several days, then finally just kept hitting them with a hammer until they finally broke loose. Put new ones in and they have been working great ever since then.

    IC, thanks for replying

Yep that was what I was asking. I’ve seen posts on other forums of people getting these more advanced standalones like some of the later model AEMs etc and setting them up to control auto trans, DBW etc on other model cars.

The IS300 finally got a full drop-in ECU replacement from Link (G4) that not only controls DBW but supports the BEANS canbus protocol Toyota uses to keep the gauges working. It doesn’t support autos though. If someone has the EE skills and time, there are probably a number of newer standalones that could be used as a full replacement on the Tacos. I believe DIYautotuning made some progress on controlling a A340, and there is an add-on module for DBW. It all starts to add up though, makes going with an AEM, Haltec, ProEFI etc appealing.

The Haltech is one of the easier ones to wire up for A340 control and has some tutorials and built in profiles for it. As far as autos go, it's a pretty simple one from an "amount of shit to wire up" perspective. I think this winter we will be doing so with @Digiratus's truck.

Build a new trans crossmember, which was the last step in my (nearly) flat belly project. Went along with clocking the tcase, deleting the 2nd cat, and raising the gas tank.

On a trip currently. alternator is fluctuating voltage between 12.8 to 15.4. I assume this is a bad voltage regulator in the alternator I had to jump start the truck at one point. Connections are tight. Other thought is I'm drawing too much power with the new water pump.

Could just be the brushes in the alternator "going out" if they are right on the edge. Though, you might drop down even lower than 12.8v if they are actually losing contact. Easy fix if you can pick up some new brushes. Also, easy to check by pulling the brushes (once you get the alt out).

Just got fuel and without a load the battery is 10v. It's only a few months old and I pulled it off the charger this morning. I'm a little perplexed as to how I can drive but not charge the battery.

If the alternator is having issues then its not going to charge the batt properly while running or, the batt is completely toast. Why did you have it on the charger, previous problems?

Only so much you can do with the alterator on the truck but...

I had my fridge plugged in with food for the trip for a few days. Didn't have an extentions cord to plug it into ac like I usually do so figured the charger would work to maintain the battery. I appreciate the fsm page.

Made it to an O'Reilly and swapped it out. Voltage is still jumpy but staying above 14V while is sit here and idle. At idle the new alternator is putting out 5 more amps than the old. 17 vs 11 The old has a bearing going out as well. Almost 300k and its been submerged in poo water on more than one occasion so it's time. There just so happens to be a 120a unit from a jag nearby that I might pick up tomorrow. From my understanding it fits perfectly but need to change the wiring a bit. @Speedytech7 is this something that can be accomplished with butt connectors and 14 guage wire?

Yeah you'll need spade connectors too, but you can absolutely do that.

Glad to hear you resolved it and you're not stranded. I still have that 105 amp Suzuki Vitara alternator sitting in a box on the shelf. Been more than a couple of years. Not too long ago @04Pre_Runner swapped to a Mean Green alternator that he scored off eBay. Not sure on results or how that differs from the 120 out of the jag.
