Dang, you guys were up there!
I guess I found the wrong campsite on Friday. I kept hearing 'Tacomas' go by, but couldn't find y'all.
But then I bent my spindle pulling back into 'my' camp Fri nite, bad enough to see myself home Sat morning.
    Oh well, hopefully next time...
P.S. Also, now looking for gusseted spindles, if anyone know a guy.

    Life, lol!
Anyways, I went past the Horse camp, maybe 1/4mi, crossed over a small stream, and a short way up a small incline there was a 'road' turnout that led back to down the stream which must have been Eagle Creek(?). There were a bunch of big, empty, dispersed campsites. Figured this must be it.

Later when I figured it wasn't, I went further out 5N01 until the next stream (Long Valley Creek, I guess), and turned right on the next available option. Went a mile out on that road/trail, saw no one, and saw less optimal camping than where I was before, so flipped it around. Dusk by then anyway.

Ya... We were down Long Valley Creek. You must have been at Eagle Meadows Horse Camp, or close to it. Dang I wish we would have known you were out there.

I'm planning to get away the last weekend of this month 10/27-10/30. Hwy 108 Eagle Meadows base camp. I will arrive Thursday and set camp. Friday will be exploring back to Relief Reservoir and adjacent areas, Saturday run Niagara Rim Trail, heading home Sunday. Folks can join Basecamp whenever works for their schedule.

Headed up the coast from Fort Bragg to Shelter Cove on Friday and Saturday, and then traded out the Softopper for something new (to me) on Sunday.

Jellyfish fragments? Proto-sea glass? Found this stuff all over the beach. Had the consistency of Jell-O.

The ravens pictured above are assholes. Stole my TP and left me cleaning up a big mess in the Glass Beach parking lot.

Last morning waking up in the Softopper.

On the way down to Black Sand Beach, I asked somebody coming back how it was and they said it was "brutal." I assumed incorrectly that they were joking. Turns out that it's damn near all gravel. Wear shoes.

Pulled off the Softopper and washed the truck Sunday morning, and then drove out to SF to pick up and install this shell. It's nice to have some headroom and insulation.

That is why you don't hold the brake when coming off steep drops. As soon as the ass end comes off the ground let let go of the brake and get on the gas if you can.

Or don't put your passenger tire about 2 feet higher up the wall than it should be.
