I read good reviews from that style if done right. Not sure of the height, but will try and measure later today.

Definitely best case scenario. Must be getting that Tacoma airborne.

You have just under 20in of room inside the storage compartment, about 19 and 3/4.

I thought, based on some discussions in this forum that you could charge your exoflow battery underway in a third gen, from the trig bed plug. I gave it a shot for the first time today and it works when the truck is in park, but the moment I shift it into gear it cuts off power to the plug in the truck bed. I tried pressing the power button while driving as well and same issue. Light pops on for a second then shuts off. Anyone know a remedy to this situation?

I can actually chime in on this one! I still don’t have a darn kimbo yet but I’m working in Bozeman currently and saw 3 different kimbos yesterday!!!! Anyways… you need to do the “400 watt anytime” mod. It’s something I discovered here in TW. But what I’ve since learned is while that does work, you may damage your charger / power station because the tacomas come with modified sine wave inverters. You may be better off buying a pure sine wave inverter and going that route just to be safe. Hope that helps!

Hey, it's likely that the draw on the outlet for the ecoflow is more than the 100W rated output of the inverter when under way.

There are ways around it but I'd write ecoflow and ask them directly if they recommend charging with the 3rd gen outlet at any wattage due to it being most likely not a pure sine wave inverter.

    Hi Kimbo Fam,

Winter is coming! I am getting ready for some time up in Colorado. The Dickenson heater is working great so I don't plan on doing anything to it. The manual talks about cleaning the orifice and thermocoupler if the flame becomes low, but mine seems to be great. I'd like to hear what others have done or are doing in regard to their heaters. I am also looking at fans to blow more of the air around, Profloundering, do you like the fan you bought? Next up is ski boots and keeping them dry, I usually just take my liners out each night and let the heater do the rest. I was looking at these https://dryguy.implus.com/product/dryguy-travel-dry-dx but didn't know how much power they would draw on my puny yeti 800 and 150 solar panel.

Nelsonator - post 1087 (page 55), sirrocco II fan has been fantastic so far - quiet, powerful, and if you accidently stick your finger into the blade it doesn't cut off a digit LOL. The fan is infinitely adjustable with spin and tilt options, then locks out of the way when not in use.

As for the Dickenson heater - we have not touched it and it's working great as well.

Following up on the porta-potty incident last weekend.

It may be unique to the users of porta-potty toilets but may have applications in other styles.

We were travelling this last weekend but before we left I cleaned out our porta-potty and added about a gallon of water and chemical to the top of the unit for flushing. Usually I’ll also add a gallon of water and a little solution to the bottom as well but this time, for whatever reason, I just added a little of the solution and no water to the lower unit. I tell you all of this because this scenario made the unit quite top heavy and ended up falling over and spilling ALL of the fluid into the floor of the Kimbo -luckily this was not the end of the world (definitely a mess for sure though). What we didn’t notice initially was that some of the fluid washed over the smoke detector and the carbon monoxide detector – we are not sure how much but it was alerting strangely while we were cleaning up and that caught my attention - while attempting to remove it to inspect, I noticed it started glowing and then smoking! I ended up panicking and ripping the connection loose from the unit to get it out of the Kimbo fearing it would catch fire...this was definitely a surprise.

This may be a very unique situation that will likely never happen anywhere ever again but I did want you guys to know about it and to be aware of the risk.

Below is a picture and you can clearly see the blue fluid contaminated the unit and it's even corroding already. I'll be replacing both the smoke detector and the carbon monoxide detector.

    IMG_6229[1].jpg

One more item - we discovered that the flooring is made up of the standard blue rigid insulation with a piece of 1/8" or so plywood and then the linoleum is installed on top then they are all glued together. The plywood is raw and soaked up a fair amount of the fluid so we'll be replacing the plywood with a sturdier material, a waterproof LVP on top and reuse the insulation.

Considering how much of a mess this would have made in a traditional trailer (consider the floor was completely soaked like a sneaker dunked up over your ankle and water squished out when you step), we are super happy to be just replacing some flooring and a couple sensors to be entirely back in order with no lingering issues to worry about.

Thanks for the update Profloundering! I have wanted to know what is underneath the floor since I have wanted to drill and mount onto it in the future. Sorry you have had to go through the entire ordeal after the porta potty incident. Risk of any type of fire inside the kimbo is a fear of mine, I keep my extra battery that I chained to my yeti 400 inside the camper and inside a battery box but I am concerned about any potential fire risk.

lead acid is pretty stable chemistry, offgassing is a concern if it's not a sealed gel cell - LiPo is less stable but it'll bulge pretty substantially before popping and I've only seen them catch fire after they were punctured...LiFe is what i'll be going with as a compromise between weight/stability/features...just need to find a decent priced 100AH with low temp cut off...read "decent price" as "super cheap" LOL.

I've thought about replacing that linoleum later on with some more durable materials. I have a couple of dents here and there. Interested to see what you go with. There are some really nice looking options out there. Are we thinking a heated floor mod in the future...?

What?!?? no 12v option? LOL - don't let my wife see this or there will be a generator in my future...

Picking up some LVP and probably some type of rigid backing to replace the plywood, also looking at installing some pull tabs/straps so if the floor ever has to come out again (very likely with my luck) it won't require destroying the floor again. If the LVP is rigid enough I may just install it against the floor insulation and call it a day.

There is some very nice boat decking that is interesting but not in the budget right now.

Check Craig's List. Could be a lot of options in the materials thread.
