He said it needed some love for sure but there was zero rust. He lifted the carpets up to show me and it was spotless. He was definitely excited to talk to someone who appreciates Toyotas.

Those old fire trucks are kept in perfect condition maintenance wise and would be sold with very low kms.

I once found a 1992 LN107 Double Cab diesel 4x4 with 12,000 original miles about 10 years ago. It was owned by the Irish Government and was used to deliver mail. It had vinyl bench seats, manual windows and air conditioning. I almost bought it but decided against only because it was painted military green which made it look butt ugly. Engine, transmission, interior/exterior and body were like new.

I love driving manual but to me, it would be foreign with my left hand. I only like doing that during certain occasions. That thing is absolutely beautiful and quite unique but I don't fancy the front bumper.

The Hiace is nice, but the Dyna with portal axles is better. Same chassis as the Megacruiser.

Saw a High Ace 4x4, diesel van a few weeks ago in Maine. Said it was his third High Ace imported from Japan. I think he said it had to be 20 years old before you can import? Thought I had a pic, but evidently the camera malfunctioned.

Well. About as many VW Dokas but far more than the singular Aerial Atom.

Heck I'm seeing more T3 Synchros popping up recently around here than when they first came out. I didn't even know people put Subi boxers in them until I made it to Utah about 12 years ago!

The HI Ace firetrucks pop up on the Japanese auctions fairly often. Like someone else said usually fairly low mileage and in good shape. Price can be ok because they take a bit of work to un-fire truck them and regular Hi Ace vans are a [relative] dime a dozen. The Hi Ace trucks can be found easily too but they are typically work trucks that definitely did some work.
