I was quoted $300-$500 by Thompson to have the head machined. If that's what both my current mechanic Pete, my friend Dave who used to be a mechanic, and the only dealership I trust are all recommending, the that's what I will do.

A lot of places won’t warranty parts not sold by them. If you buy from Pete and have the dealership do the head work, you might ask how that will affect warranty.

I went to Thompson to officially get the quote in writing; Thompson has this new 2022 AC SR5 V6 4x4 on the lot, so I took it for a test drive! I liked it, and they are willing to sell at MSRP, but I was shocked to find out that it did not have the blind spot monitors in the mirrors; I liked it other than the lack of the blind spot warning lights, and for that reason I would not buy this truck...

Either buy a poverty spec I4 4x4 SR, or buy a TRD with BSM and the other goodies. Even the 35k v6 is going to be missing stuff like BSM and parking sensors and stuff.

Or maybe buy the cheapest SR v6 4x4, if you can find one. But the stupid exhaust tips and such add up fast.

I agree with this guy ^^^

Yes, I think that is the best route.
Let the professionals handle it, get the warranty, and forget about it.

Who is to say a new, used, or rebuilt engine won’t blow its gasket.
It happens, you are not going to do anything about it.

You’ve already said, you can’t do the work yourself.
There are plenty of things I can’t do, and I don’t worry about any of it.
What good is it going to do me? I pay the guy that knows what he’s doing, and don’t think any more of it.

It’s all going to be ok bud.
There’s worse things to worry about.

On another note, you guys may remember that my neighbor's bill for died from breast cancer just a little over a year ago at the heartbreakingly young age of 41; I signed the pink wall at the local Toyota dealer in her honor when I was there today...

    Thats was nice of you.

Ok, I know this sounds weird.
But I find it interesting you make your “b” with 2 strokes, and “d” with a single stroke.
And I’m not picking on you, my writing is terrible. Yours is just fine.

I’ve just always had a weird thing about observing handwriting techniques.
    Probably because mine is awful:rofl:
I’m pretty sure some of my teacher just gave me a passing grade in school reacher than to try a decipher my hand writing. :p

Thank you for all your input. My truck is getting a new head gasket and there is a good chance I will be selling it to my friend Gwyn and buying something newer within a year and a half or two years!

That is not some of my best work; I was using a Sharpie and I was in a rush, and as you can see I made a couple mistakes...

I couldn't ask for, say, a remote starter with built-in alarm?
