I’m not him but we’ve had multiple Toyotas in the 350k+ to 450k+ mileage range and all of them near the point we’d trade up only needed more little stuff replaced like bushings and maintenance items, wear and tear things like r&p and CVs but not a single one ever had an issue with engine or tranny or anything major. Just changed the oil at relatively long intervals even and drove them all over the country. Cheers.

I know this post is well over 4 years old, hopefully you're still on here. I can relate to past of your signature - '2016 Camry SE (Automatic) 12K - Garage queen, i hate the automatic.. will be sold soon and replaced with something older and stick..' That's pretty much what I did - had a 2012 Honda CR-V. Their last manual CR-V in the U.S.A. was 2006. I traded in the CR-V for a 2007 2.7L 5 speed manual Tacoma. Love the truck. So I replaced it something older with a stick! I'm weird I guess... an older manual transmission vehicle, especially this Tacoma - just feels much better to me.

the 2.7's are bulletproof. I have 116K in my 2012 and she still runs great!

I finally rolled over 180k on my daily that gets driven once a week.. thanks work from home? trucks gonna last me forever at this point. I've had to do a starter since I got it at 160k and I went ahead and changed out the stock shocks for KYBs and did a fuel filter.. otherwise just basic maintenance. runs like a top.

Now don't even ASK me how reliable our 07 Sienna with 115k miles has been. It's cost more in repair in the last year than my truck has cost in it's life time. Sheesh. At least the engine and transmission are solid...

I still laugh at the fact when my 2006 Colorado puked the top end at 70K that GM tried to tell me it's normal. Sure, only because they all were prone to it and you had to write a secret warranty..which oddly I found in 3 minutes and dealers can't despite it being their job.

Was that the 5 cylinder or 4 cylinder Colorado? I see quite a few of those trucks around they seem reliable. The old s10 4 cylinders were bulletproof

Mine was the 4, but the 4 and the 5 cylinder engines both had the issue in the Colorado/Canyon. 2004, 2005, and some/most of the 2006 models.

You're right about the prior runs, I know quite a few who had the 4 banger trucks and they kept on running.

Curious as to what the issue was in the 2004-2006 model years? I had considered a Colorado/Canyon of that era, partly being that you could get a manual transmission with a 4 or 5 cylinder engine and 4WD. Certainly glad I decided on the Tacoma. It seems those GMC trucks of those years are somewhat rare. I think I see more Ford Rangers around than those.

I was surprised when both the Colorado/Canyon and Ford Ranger's production (at least for the U.S.A.) ceased for a while. For me, a mid sized pickup truck, especially the Tacoma is ideal.

I never saw too many of them even back then, less now which I can see why.

2.8 4 cylinder or 3.5 5 cylinder, both were the Atlas engines.

That is amazing! And the truck looks new. I hope the gen 2 2.7L engines are as good as the first gens.

My '06 regular cab 4x4 has 172,xxx miles. No major issues outside of PM . . . valve cover gasket, idler pulley, wheel bearings, and rear wheel seals (my bad for hauling way heavier bed load than rated for). Still on original clutch and second battery.

All the toyota truck 4cylinders are pretty much the 22re but more modernized, I would argue the 2trfe is more reliable than the 1st gen (is it the 3rz?) The 1st gen if I recall have a issue with the valves needing adjustment or something along those lines.

Nothing major, but I am chasing a cel right now.Rough idle at low rpm's but runs great and no loss of power at highway speeds. Got me a Lil befuddled, lol.

Hope it's minor and you can find out what's causing it. There's a couple gen 1 single cab Tacomas that park near me at work. At least one is a manual transmission like mine. There's another even older gen., different grill than these and yours - maybe a mid 90s model? But I guess that would be considered a gen 1 also.
