    We welded some tabs onto the bumper to hold a 1/4" thick aluminum plate:

    We got the mirrors, door handles, bushwacker flares, and bumper sprayed in Black raptor. We used UPOL adhesion promoter on the plastic parts

    We mouse proofed the cab air intake:

    So we called Southern Polyurethanes about coating the bumper aluminum plate in clear coat. They said that pretty much no clear will stick long term to bare alumiinum. But we decided to try it anyways, we can always sand it off in the future if it comes off. We sanded it with 80 grit, then put on some upol adhesion promoter, then put on SPI universal clear that is about 8 years old, left over from my dad's mustang project. so pretty much guaranteed to fail, but looks nice now:

    I get my permit soon, but we probably won't register it until spring. I will have to learn on my dad's 3rd gen (which is also a manual).
