None available at Chattanooga though :(

I don't know how much it is to ship them, but I'd imagine it would be worth the drive to TN to pick one up.

Flat rate of $245, but this was one of them that wasn't in stock in Chattanooga

Did you ever hear back from anyone on this? We'll be in the area for new years and I've been wondering the same. I know around Thanksgiving last year they were already starting to close some roads/trails in the area due to ice. Not sure what will even be open around late December.

I haven't gotten a reply. I'm planning on going up the max patch area this weekend. Hopefully I'll get to do hurricane creek trail. I've heard it's a fun one.

The current plan is Saturday morning. I'm waiting to hear from my wife's best friend (she drives a wrangler) and my brother in law. He has an f150. We have four kids so for our family to go we have to have one of our people to let one kid ride with them. It complicates our wheeling trips. A lot of times someone stays home. My wife was set on buying a pilot for the whole family and I regret letting that happen. We need a 4wd sequoia but I can't let my truck go either

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Anyone have any idea as to why I can’t fill these?

Look at the date code. They are probably too old.

    Stolen from a random site:
    Reading a Propane Tank Date
The manufacture date is stamped on the tank's collar, which is the metal piece sticking up at the top of the cylinder. The date will be stamped as a simple four-number code. The first two numbers signify the month of manufacture, and the second two numbers indicate the year. There's usually a space, dash, or slash between the two sets of numbers. For example, if your tank is stamped 06 16, it was manufactured in June 2016.

An E or H stamped by the date means the tank has been recertified. A propane tank recertification stamp shows that the tank has been tested and recertified for use. Recertification adds five years to the life of the tank. So if the manufactured date on your tank is 12 09, it was made in December 2009 and expired at the end of 2021. If there's an E or an H by the date, the tank was recertified, and it should be good for another five years beyond 2021, or until the end of 2026.

Looking at your pic, the tank was manufactured in January of 2002. You are just past the 20 year mark. You could get it re-certified, but may not be worth the cost.

EDIT: Unless, of course, what I thought was the date code isn't.

Probably because the inspection is out of date. Just exchange it somewhere for a full one the propane company will re certify it before filling it.
Looks like Scott B and I posted at the same time.

To replace my out of date cylinders, I exchanged them, as @All Visible Hues 14 said.

Be careful exchanging - I got a tank with bad threads at the valve. And, make sure your replacement tank is not overly rusty. Some of the exchange tanks are really bad.

Oh, and the exchange tanks usually only have 15 pounds in them now, instead of 20 - for the same cost, of course.

Turds!!! 5lbs less. That’s like my favorite Thai place serving me 3 chicken satay vs 4 pieces recently! I can’t stand it!

About to go plant a bunch of cedars shortly. Wish me luck, the temp outside is in the 20s!
