When I was still going to a gym (I've got a home gym in the basement now), the receptionist's husband had a 2002 Chevy Malibu that he bought brand new. He was (and probably still is) in sales and drove A LOT. By the end of 2012, the Malibu had a staggering 341K miles on it, and the car itself was mint. However, the head gasket blew and I mean really blew, like it barely ran. Husband decided to buy a new car, and I believe the Malibu was sold to the mechanic who put a low mileage engine in it and resold it. Either that, or it was donated to Purple Heart. Either way, the car was in such great condition that I'm sure it didn't go to waste, and is proof that anything will last if you take care of it. The white truck shown above definitely increases my trust in the 3rd Gen V6 though!

I presently have four professional grade respirators like the one Tia is wearing, two of which are new in the package and unopened. This mask was new this past February, but it was the only one I could find. It has been worn by five different people since last weekend and thoroughly washed between wearers, and it is pretty worn out. The mask itself is fine, but the detachable cartridges are done; I cut them open, empty them of the carbon filter stuff, and superglued them back together, so this mask can be hygienically used as a prop by anyone who wants to wear it while posing with the truck...

Virtually impossible to tell without really looking that the cartridges have been gutted...

The props on the front of the truck have to come off when I bring it in for the head gasket job... :(

I’ve been using the same style mask for about 3 years. I bought it back when I had to install a floating wood floor in a house. There were some high spots and I had to grind them done.

I bet there has been at least 4 different guys use it. And I never thought about cleaning.

I mean, by the time we use it. It’s probably too late. Putting a mask on after it gets too dusty and hard to breathe is probably too late:goingcrazy:

Tia tried on the mask with the gutted cartridges and said she could not breathe, so I'm thinking that tearing apart the cartridges possibly was not the greatest idea; I have figured out how to totally strip the mask, and considering painting the parts black and like green for a real biohazard/zombie look...

I've got two unused, never-worn masks in the truck, still sealed in the package!

I work in a warehouse and I have a work-provided respirator; I went to the safety cabinet to get new cartridges for it and discovered that most of the cartridges had expired in October 2019. My supervisor approved the ordering of new cartridges, and these older ones would have just been thrown out, so I get to keep them for Halloween purposes! They still filter air and won't be used for anything other than zombie apocalypse cosplay, so my supervisor said I can keep them since they would just be thrown out anyway!

These ones, plus a fifth set that I put on my own mask, all expired in October 2019...
