irrelevant. why are you looking at the screen when using the steering wheel controls? they exist to keep your eyes on the road.

Someone at Toyota thought you might be in the middle of a left turn when you felt the need to change the audio. Very important you don't turn up the volume during a left turn when you meant to change the station.

In reply to the member who is playing the victim: There was never hostility toward your opinion. You however were very vocal about telling everyone here that you were “sorry they found the controls difficult” despite that never being stated or implied by anyone.

 

Me too. We are re-mapping our brains to fit whatever engineer made that decision. Every now and then a black cat walks by twice. Now on the 4th gen, they will have a new engineer and we have to re-map back.

 

I mean your hands are not leaving the steering wheel anyway so it being closer to the steering wheel buttons on the right side really doesn't hurt anything anyway.

 

The controls are not "intuitive" for me at least.

 

Does anyone here know or have taken the radio control out to see if the wires can be switched or are they integrated into the switch. Or have pics of the switch under side or schematic on it.

Maybe if Toyota Corporation gets enough complaints about the switch they may contact the manufacturer and have them change the design to what it should be normal and easy to use. Just saying.

 

If one used a pry-tool and removed the button surround, could the whole 4-switch assembly be rotated 90degrees?
