I’ve been watching Dahmer on Netflix and didn’t realize until I was 7 episodes in that Molly Ringwald plays Jeff Dahmers step mom …I’m like “WTF? That’s Molly?” Not that it was a bad casting choice it’s just she looks nothing like she did 30 years ago

My wife gets aggravated that seemingly every movie I watch has "Matt fucking Damon" (as she calls him) in it.

I refuse to watch that, but I do like Molly Ringwald (Sixteen Candles).

He's got the talent for every role he does though. Although, Pinocchio on Disney+ was terrible. It didn't have much of a plot.

Rosie would've been better cast as Dino.

Denise Richards as nuclear physicist Christmas Jones in James Bond's The World Is Not Enough. Pretty crappy Bond flick.

Bond: "And I thought Christmas only comes once a year"

I think i'm gonna be sick...

    Regarding Cruise as Reacher…

I’m a big Lee Child fan and I’ve read most of the books. Seen the two Reacher movies and the Amazon series with Alan Ritchson as well.

Ritchson was serviceable, but honestly once you get by Cruise not being a giant, I thought he was a good fit. I enjoyed the Reacher movies with Cruise.

One of the original candidates was (obviously) Dwayne Johnson but he wasn’t available. They looked at some other big names that are familiar to action movies but settled on Cruise. Child defended the choice: “If you do know Reacher, for the first two or three minutes you’re going to think, ‘This is weird.’ But after the first two or three minutes, you buy into it, it sucks you in, and he convinces you."

Ritchson wouldn’t have had enough star power for the movie, and he just doesn’t have the same delivery Cruise does.

My pick goes back a ways, Kevin Costner in Robin Hood.

I'm also a huge fan of the books. Haven't seen the Amazon series yet but I'd like to. The disadvantage of movies or TV are that you miss that running monologue in Reacher's head where he's always analyzing and calculating and generally staying one step ahead. They always have to simplify things in movies. Also, the car chase in the first Reacher movie was stupid because possibly the one thing Reacher doesn't do well is drive and he never does by choice.

Tom Hardy was the only well known actor that I thought might be able to pull off Reacher. Maybe Christian Bale if he bulked up again and bleached his hair.

Tom Hardy would’ve been a good choice ya.

Converting a book to a movie is always hard, especially to satisfy the fans of the books. I agree about Reacher’s inner monologue and calculating his options.

Child has said some interesting things about how he came up with the character. Most hero stories have the hero overcome significant adversity, but Child thought, what if this hero is just so badass that he rolls right through everyone, wouldn’t that be fun and different?

Yeah, I remember reading that in the prologue of one of his books. That's definitely why I like Reacher so much. Plus the amount of ass he kicks is awesome.

When Craig was first cast as Bond, the backlash was insane…people threatened to boycott the movies…

Yep. I was just talking about the best Bond's with my wife yesterday. I think Craig is second only to Connery.

Not sure if I’m off topic here but the difference between American & British Cracker series’s was Night ‘n Day. Robbie Coltrane was incredible. Psychologist with a Drinking, Gambling & Lady problem is always an excellent story. Throw in great forensic psychology & it’s a must see. Just make sure it’s the UK version.

Russel Crowe as Crocodile Robin Hood killed the movie for me.

It also bugs me when Brit and Aussie actors pretend to be American, like Daniel Craig’s shitty southern accent.

My wife hates it when they cast Asians outside their race, like a Korean dude as Chinese.

The Han Solo guy in Solo really annoyed the shit out of me. He did a horrible job. There's a YouTube guy, Jamie Costa, that looks and sounds like him.

I agree but at least some of it is due to the time and the movies themselves. Everything from Diamonds are Forever to A View to a Kill and from License to Kill to the last Brosnan one (Die Another Day?) was so cheesy. I liked Timothy Dalton but only in The Living Daylights. Half the Craig movies are terrible in my opinion too.
