Thanks to the 25-year loophole, we're gonna be getting a lot of the fun vehicles!

In every movement for change a leader must emerge if there is going to be change.
If one isn't "walking the talk" it is very difficult to sway others to your point of view.

Home market European vehicles get driven much less than vehicles in the U.S.. Fuel is very expensive abroad, large vehicles and large engines are heavily taxed.

This is a big country, we are an independent travel focused society, we like large, heavy, poor mileage vehicles and drive them a lot - thus we pollute a lot.

Let's compare England to Pennsylvania for example.
England is 181 miles east to west and 346 miles north to south.
Pennsylvania is 309 miles east to west and 174 miles north to south.

I think after 25 years you can legally import foreign vehicles.

You don't know? Anything 25 year old or older can legally be brought into the United States, titled, registered, and driven on public roads. California is the only state where it's hard to register gray market vehicles because of their draconian emissions testing rules. In Pennsylvania, it is very easy to get vehicles from other markets through emissions, including those JDM minitrucks...

Even if it is totally unsafe and would never get through government crash-testing, it's exempt from that once it's 25 years older or older! JDM vehicles are common here now!

Florida seems to do just fine without emissions testing...

I get the point, but you'll never be able to convince me that I should have to pay a mechanic to tell me that my truck is in perfect working order every year...

The words "I, me and my" are frequently used, unfortunately they mean very little in the larger picture.

You are implying that as you do the responsible thing and keep your vehicle in good working order (as in clean emissions) that everyone would be equally as conscientious.

Society at large can be trusted to live down to the lowest impulse that they can get away with.

    I am avid trout angler.
There has been numerous times that I’ve confronted people on over limits and size limit.
I do it nicely, and try to keep it non-confrontational.

The worst was the the guy that literally stormed off the dock after I threw back in a 17.5” bass.
    All because “He wanted it”.

Your statement is unfortunately true for some people.

And yes, I’ve been guilty of living at a lower level. I think we’ve all been there a time or two.

It was big enough to keep.
The point being, it was my fish.

    I caught. He didn’t.
I chose to throw it back in.

Time for a drunk asshole story!

I have told this story before, but here it is again. It was a busy night at Puck, and I was coming back from getting ice; I was in a rush and took the entrance to the parking lot a little fast. I used the Pine Street entrance, and the owners of Puck own a small 1-bedroom house directly across the street that they rent out. The tenant, who I actually knew from around town, was on his front porch drinking with friends. He became utterly convinced that he seen me "get air" as I pulled into the parking lot, and his intoxicated wisdom thought it was a good idea to follow me into the parking lot and confront me for what he saw as unsafe driving; I can tell you that I definitely di not go airborne.

It wasn't the fact that he came up to me. It was the fact that he appeared of nowhere and was an asshole right out of the gate. He just started berating me, and I was trying to do my job; I was helping my coworkers unload bags of ice from my truck and bring it to the patio bar, and I didn't want to be bothered. I told him to leave me alone and he flat out refused, and one of the bouncers finally had to order him off the property because he was literally interfering with my ability to do my job at that point.

The irony of the situation is that I ended up approaching him on his front porch later that night and we made up. He was actually a pretty nice guy, and we were friendly until he moved.

And there was this time my friend's band was playing at a bar in Bensalem, probably a month or two before the COVID pandemic started. Someone parked their Chevy Equinox crooked, and the bar was so crowded that the spot next to the Equinox was the only one available; I begrudgingly took that spot. It is worth noting that my friend Mike was with me, because he's the one who drew the ire of the drunk in this case.

I really had to cram my truck into this spot, and when Mike got out of the passenger side, his door may or may not have touched this woman's Chevy; I didn't see it happen, so far as I'm concerned nothing happened. I locked up the truck, and we were walking to the bar when this random middle-aged woman appears out of nowhere and confronts me. She was clearly intoxicated...

She said had seen both of us get out of my Tacoma, and she saw me get out of the driver's side, so she correctly assumed it was my truck. She somehow came to the conclusion that my eyes were on my friend at all times and was absolutely convinced that Mike had opened the passenger door into her Chevy. I basically told her to go to hell, without actually telling her to go to hell, and we walked away. She was not happy that I called her "lady", and I don't if she thought she was going to get cash out of me or what, but I just wanted to have a good time with my friends and wasn't in the mood.

If only he’d have smoked instead of drank, he would have been cheering you on:rofl:
I guess what I’m saying is, people intoxicated by alcohol can be “hard to deal with”.

One time I went to a Bachelor party at a huge hotel, massive parking lot with hundreds of cars. When we were leaving and looking for my car I could here someone in the parking lot throwing up profusely, the drunk guy could have got sick anywhere but naturally happened to be throwing up all over the side of my car.

I've forced several drunk friends to let me give them rides home so they didn't end up with a DUI, but thankfully nobody every barfed in or on my truck...

Which is one of the reasons I preferred to be "back of house" instead of "front of house" when I was working at a bar!
