Thanks! An off road could have been enough but it was getting harder and harder to find one with the options I liked and all of a sudden I got a msg that a Pro had been traded in. I wasn't even considering black but the color is actually really nice, paint has some blue flakes that show up in bright daylight.

And if you ever want a flat hood, I’d be happy to swap with you!

    Also, welcome to TW.

I think the black looks great, more so when clean, the flakes give it an awesome look. I plan on doing a paint correction and ceramic coating it and hope it’ll help keep it looking good.

I used to live in Bowie, every trail is gonna be a hike for you lol. As far as trails, Peters Mill and Flagpole in VA. I guess there’s an OHV in western Maryland called Wolfs Den but I don’t know anything about it.

Because the MD guys haven't yet done a group run! And by run I mean 'drive' because you don't get a body like THIS (as i rub my enormous belly) by 'running'.

Thanks RedDead. Just checked these two out and they seem like good starter ones for me. Going to get out there within the next 1-2 weeks definitely. Without sounding to dumb, for these beginner trails do I need to start thinking about getting some basic recovery gear first? Again this is my first rodeo so just trying to make sure. I also spent too much on the Pro which means that now I must spend a ton on other crap as well LOL.

Cause dealerships for some reason like to have their vehicles on the lot washed. Funny you say that because I am not wanting to think about burying my truck in mud right now and have been looking for some dry trails.

Can someone chime in on whether doing some corrosion prevention treatment is needed? If so, any local or recommended places or treatment types? I tried searching this but didn't get good results.

I’ve used Woolwax, which is similar to fluid film. It’s black and a little thicker than the ff. Seems to last most of the winter too. Comes in a spray can and you can apply it pretty much anywhere under your truck. It stays greasy as well. Unless you spray a lot in a corner or something it does not really drip either.

You may want to consider - do you have a trailer hitch? - a hitch-mounted shackle. HF sells them; and a snatch/pull strap and keep it in your truck so if others come along to help you're already squared away.

If you're brand-spanking new to off-roading, you can look at this ppt i made for a class last year. [side note; looks like my facebook page was deleted, so I attached the file). Covers some things you might wanna think about; but is simplified for group-digestion as opposed to specific or targeted situations.

I think the first thing you may want to bring is 'another truck/rig and driver' because having someone to watch over the obstacles will help you more-easily see a line that works.

I can't see what kind of tires your truck has; if you can find a way to air-back-up, consider dropping the air pressure to no-higher than 20, probably. Maybe. If you can't air back up, I'd stay above 25 to ensure you can make it out and drive a bit on pavement before finding air.
