I use this holder from Nite Eyez, it was $20 at REI and so far keeps.the phone secure through everything I've thrown at it( steep/ tech downhill in Davis WVa, fast flowy jump lines in WI, even on my gravel rides with the constant washboards it holds snug.

That’s awesome! Congrats! I moved out your way, I’m in purcellville now.

I thought the same thing about the knolly but they said medium would be a good fit for me at 5’11”. He also said he’s going to have his large for sale soon, it’s used but will be a complete bike. I believe they also carry Kona so you could get a honzo from them, that might be special order though.

Any of you set biking goals for the year? I use Strava and set a goal of hitting 2,000 miles - have about 180 more to go before getting there, but doing out the math still leaves a pretty good push to the end of December (especially with the holidays and a vacation mixed in there). Funny how in January when setting a goal it seemed pretty obtainable in comparison to others, but life and work seem to always get in the way (trying to not cheat with too many pavement miles mixed in).

I set goals for riding and running this year but don't really pay too much attention to them. I think my goals were 300 miles of running and 500 miles of riding. I'm at 324 miles running and 1736 miles riding.

My actual goals were more focused around events this year and I started working with a coach. My riding and running has been whatever my coach thought was needed to complete an event in my goal time. I do think strava goals are good for making sure you stay consistent though. It doesn't work for everyone but its a good starting point for sure.

Gotta be able to IG livestream super grainy footy at a moments notice.

On another note my GF surprised me with a new Levo last night. I was kind of irritated at first for a myriad of reasons. Once the dust settles from selling mY current bike I'm pretty sure I'll break even. Long story short, NBD-E.

That's awesome! I am sure working with a coach would be a huge benefit. I put the bikes away once I got my drivers license 19 years ago, and have only been getting back into it for the last two years. Have been really getting my fitness to a point where I can push hard on a trail and not be sucking too much wind. The goal all along was get the legs and lungs into fighting shape (taken a lot longer than anticipated LOL), then I can focus on more technical skills and conquering more intimidating features.

I would say even getting close to 2000 miles in a year is a sign you're fitness is there and ready for more technical skills haha. Especially if that is mostly on the mountain bike.

Getting a coach was definitely the best move I've made fitness wise, probably in general too haha. I've used apps for training and tried on my own but so many apps are hyper focused, I wanted something more general endurance fitness that I could refine and this has been it. Once I realized that there were people in older age groups crushing times in races I was like, I've got nothing but time to get faster, might as well refine my training now so my fitness is that much better as I get older.

First full year biking, I set a goal of 50k feet of climbing, not knowing anything about what it would take to get there. I’m at 59k feet now and 996 miles for the year. Next year I’ll up the ante. The fat bike with studded tires will help with the winter miles!

i wanted to ride 2000 miles this year, but am no where near that.
    upload_2022-10-19_8-24-19.jpg

I'd be happy if I hit 1000 miles, which seems totally doable.

Another goal was to ride 30 laps on a trail loop by my house on my birthday. Only managed 26 in 13ish hours, but gave it a really good effort and am not disappointed about it. I knew it was gonna be tight and had an international flight at 6am the next day.

I also wanted to do the Cycle the Summit (ride up Pikes Peak on the road) under 2 hours and try a mountain bike race. I summited in like 1:55 and did 2 XC style races. Not really a fan of XC races, but would totally do more.

Since I got a dog last weekend, next year is going to be a little more running/hiking focused so I can take the little guy out with me more.

Riding up Pike's Peak is a huge accomplishment - well done! Getting that much under 2 hours at that altitude is nothing to joke around with.

    not enough.
I try to get 2000 miles every year. I was 34 miles off in 2020, 150 off in 2021 but I had an elbow dislocation and was out for a month so that makes sense. I'm at 1500 this year so far. Not sure i'll get my 2k. this year, it was more about the races for me. got more races done this year than ever before.

on the flip side, my elevation gain is another good metric. i'm set to overtake my last year by a bit. I usually get over 225k ft gain every year.

I started biking this summer and I'm trying to hit 1000 miles for the year. Mine is a mix of road and mountain miles, probably like 60% road, 40% mountain but I'm at around 750 miles so far. I'm hoping I can get the last 250 in two and half months, although the temperature just dropped significantly this week and so I probably need to get some winter gear.

Regardless of goal hitting, I already feel way better in general than before I started biking so I'm already winning.

    @guitarjamman

I did set a goal this year, and to level set, I ride MTB, road and gravel, so that’s where this number comes from. But, I set out for 7200 miles this year. I’m going to be short of that, but that is because I have been on the MTB so much more than I planned. My ride time is actually higher than what it was last year at this point already. And I’ll pass last year’s miles next month.

But, my goal was 7200, I’m at 5100 miles. With two more months, I should get close to 6000 if the weather allows. I think my MTB riding will move more towards road/gravel with the winter. And, December I actually will have most of the month off from work, so I’ll up the miles as well especially if I can hit 6k.

The last two years, I’ve been able to really get back to biking and it is the one thing that helps me stay level set working at home as much as I have been after traveling so much the past 8 years prior to the ID. Now, even with getting back to traveling for work a bit more I try to find ways to ensure I get on the bike.

So here’s to all in hitting your goals for the year but most of all, just enjoying the time out on the two wheels!

I'm at 171 miles this year :( And a fair bit of that was 15-25mi at a whack.

Gas prices this summer really put a downer on my willingness to go over to PC, etc for good long rides, and I've ridden the local trails so much I'm really pretty over them. I need to get back on the bike and mix it up a little with the trail systems I go and ride.

2022 Scott Spark 970 for $1800. I offered $1500 and going to see if they bite. Slightly interested in trying a 120/130 bike.

Could make a nice spare for friends as well who haven’t been willing to dive in yet.

If anyone else wants it, it's right around where I live. I could pick up for you.

I was intrigued by that bike, looks like a fun bike. I am a fan of the 120 category of bikes though, with good geometry they are so fun.
