so if you were to reload those...

There is about 7000 gr per 1 lb of powder.

Depending on the grain weight of the projectile and how much powder....

Hornady ELD is one of the better deals at around $1.14 per round ($57/50rd)

Hogdon US869 (just a random selection from the load data) takes about 100gr. per round and cost $40/lbs. So divide 7000 by 100 and you get about 70 rounds per pound of powder. Then divide the $40 by the 70 rounds and it cost you $.57 per round in powder.

Assume you get lucky and find 1000 primers for $90...that's $0.09 each.

    $1.14
    $0.57
    +$0.09
    ---------
    $1.80

That's an expensive round! You'd still be saving $5 per shot, so save that brass!

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Posting this in here cause I know we got some hunters in here:

Free to a good home! Located above Asheville NC, but I will travel with the pup to meet up.

My peeps! I am calling on all of you awesome individuals (many of which I have met) to help a brutha out.

I saved this pup from being put to sleep today…and I am looking to find Hickory a new home.

I went up to the shelter today to bring my girlfriend some lunch and while I was about to get back in my truck a dog howled out to me from one of the outdoor pens.
I asked my girl who it was, and she said that’s Hickory…he is scheduled to be put down today. I said WTF…that dog looks awesome.

Long story short, I couldn’t bare to see such an amazing dog be out down. So I grabbed him and took him for a hike. I wanted to see who this pup was.

Let me just say that this is one of the coolest dogs I have had out on the trail with me. Mild mannered, doesn’t pull on a leash and wasn’t barking at all. He did amazing on the ride in the truck, and was so calm I did not crate him in the back of the Tacoma.
We traversed a bunch of terrain today, thru creeks over boulders and not once did he pull on me or get ahead of me.
This dog could be a hell of a hunting dog…found tracks within minutes of us on a FSR, both deer and bear. Then we snuck up on some doves, and he was super quite and got real low.
I am willing to make a serious road trip to put this dog in the hands of an awesome owner.

Help a brutha out and help me find this guy a new family.
    JB

I hope you can find a new home for him! These situations always really tug my heartstrings. How on earth I don't have a dozen dogs I don't know. Best of luck and I commend you for the good deed!

You're a good guy. Breaks my heart to think how many sweet, innocent creatures get put down unnecessarily because careless owners couldn't be bothered to take responsibility for them. Best of luck to you both, and God bless.

Thanks brutha. I am in the process of setting up some runs up here on the mtn. I can’t stand to see these dogs not get a chance to live it up. I get more pleasure in life hiking with these dogs than anything. I am paying it forward, my folks raised me right ;)

Also while I was out finding dogs, I went by my local gun store. Coopers Trading in Burnsville NC.
The owner is super cool, and I must say it’s a pleasure doing business with him. He has a lot of everything. The upstairs is nothing but Bows and Crossbows…you should treat yourself to a ride out there.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
That's awesome, and I'm glad you had the means and timing to save him. Do you have any other details on Hickory? Age? Weight? Background? Etc? I'm making no promises or commitments, but I'll definitely ask around.

If you can find someone to take him, Pilots n Paws would be able to help with the transportation. I would love to help, but you’re just too far away for me.

Pilotsnpaws.org is where you can create a profile and make a transport request for the pup after you find someone to receive the dog. I recommend reaching out to some rescue groups of that breed. You can usually find several rescue groups on Facebook.

The dog is a mix of a red tick and a walker hound I believe. He is probably 1.5-3yrs old. He is on the skinny side of about 45lbs, but I think looking at his paws…once he is fed and run, he will probably be about 55-60lb.
I found him at the local Yancey County shelter in NC (my gf works there), and connected with him today. I know that he has been brought back to the shelter for destructive behavior in the house, when left unattended. My gf said that he can be picky what other dogs he likes to play/run with.

My experience today with him, shows that the owners did not know how to properly train this dog.
Being a working dog, they are wanting to get outside and be challenged. Physically they need the exercise and then rest up in their crate (not necessarily on the couch). Drawing a fine line between what is acceptable is key. Dogs constantly test the waters as to what is permissible, in order for them to try and obtain the pack leader roll.
With proper training and putting the dog in check. They will learn exactly what you want them to.

Today, with Hickory (the pup I rescued), the hike we had was challenging and direct. No breaks, No time petting him or acting like we were pals.
I wanted to see how this dog reacted to a pack leader. When he responded to a command he would get praise, but once and only a touch. He was constantly in check with me and wouldn’t pull or pass me…what a good dog he is.
