I'm in NY along the NJ border but have my NYS and PA CCW's and plan to file for my NJ soon. A buddy of mine is a long time NJ resident who moved to PA a few years back, he's pursuing his NJ CCW right now and making progress. I'll start mine soon and like that I can bounce questions off him.

 

Is NJ reciprocating NYC CCWs or issuing out of state CCWs?

 

I bounce between shooters,we shoot, and range 14, although with the cost of ammo at the moment my range visits have been few and far between since covid.
Once ammo comes down and I can spend more time at the range I plan on joining CJRPC

It's been real shit show for NJ Permit To Carry. Every county is handling it differently, some counties are placing absurd restrictions, some issuing with no restrictions, and at least 2 counties flat out refusing to issue any permits at all.
Monmouth and ocean issued a couple batches of permits with a restriction stating you could not carry on or in any motor vehicle, basically forcing you to load/unloading and brandish/conceal at the trunk of your vehicle everywhere you go.
The legislation they are trying to rush through and pass is an attempt to essentially make the entire state a "sensitive place". And that's no exxageration.

NJ has zero reciprocity with any state and vice versa.
They are supposed to be issuing non residents through NJSP, but I'm yet to see any of them issued.

 

@Lucky Lefty NY has been on a county by county basis as long as I can remember and even within a county you have different issuing judges in different parts of the county. Luckily when my wife and I got ours we had a very pro-2a judge for our area so even with a couple of dumb mistakes I made as a kid he issued me unrestricted.

Our idiots in Albany are trying the same nonsense with making everyplace a sensitive place and a judge already struck down a bunch of it but of course another one issued a "stay" to keep them in place until a final decision is reached. We've had basically zero CCW holders commit a crime with a gun but somehow they think further tightening things up on us will fix something. I wish the courts could penalize these politicians when they do this kind of stuff.

theres actually 29 states that an NJ permit reciprocates with. But none of them border NJ lol. I have a PA permit but Ill have to reapply as Im an NJ resident again.

Ahh yes I stand corrected.. there are some states that will accept NJ PTC... but as you said, none of our border states.

 

They appear to be the best ones doing it as of yet.

I'm dealing with Ocean County who has gone silent since ousting the initial judge (gizinski) from the permit process, with an apparent 2A friendly judge (ryan)..
The prosecutor seems to be very anti-2a and I feel they are waiting for the laws to change before approving any more permits

 

Corruption and misconduct is rampant in this state as you know. Ocean County…even moreso
