Now thats what I am talking about! I got the dash off so now I can get a good idea where everything goes. At this point I am thinking it will be easier to fit the tacoma dash and plastics over this crash bar so I am thinking about taking it also. If not I think it will require cutting off brackets and welding them onto the tacoma crash bar. Either way, I am excited!20221008_150228.jpg20221008_150235.jpg20221008_150257.jpg20221008_150235.jpg 20221008_150305.jpg

Don't know if it will matter to you... I imagine the Lexus is a significant difference in sound proofing compared to the Tacoma. My Tacoma responded well to Dynamat. Huge difference in road noise. Like a different vehicle.

Just messing around while I tear down the tacoma dash. The cluster fits really nicely but I will have to get creative with the surrounding trim. 20221010_165642.jpg 20221010_165649.jpg

Alright guys, sorry for no updates, I was out of town. I got the dash and steering column out of the way. The tacoma behind the dash components look really simple. My plan going forward is to continue to strip the engine bay completely.

Did you save the spiral cable from the Taco? If you’re not gonna use it, will you part with it? Mine went bad a while ago but I finally have a long trip coming up where cruise control would be nice

Living in a state that doesn't require emissions testing. It still blows my mind that people really have to worry about modifications they make to something they paid for just to keep it passing emissions.

    Great thread!

Been wanting to do a similar swap with a 1UZ out of a 06-09 4runner.

I live in a state that doesn't test anymore although I plan on keeping all OEM emissions equipment installed.

These 2005s are notorious for frame rot, particularly in this section where water gets in between the two layers. So I spent the weekend cutting and welding in 2 walls off of the lexus frame. My welds aren't pretty but I think I got good enough penetration, certainly better than no frame wall due to frame rot. The frame around this one section is solid and I plan on putting in plastic frame plugs, spraying the inside and outside of the frame with undercoating and fluid film. I noticed on later tacomas they plug the frames.

Are you gonna do any suspension upgrades as you build it back up? Any upgrades or changes planned in general?

Yes. After discussing with the sales guy at King Shocks about the additional weight of about 150 lbs and adding a winch mount with the stock bumper, I decided to order 700 lbs 2.5 inch coilovers with compression adjusters.

    JBA UCAs

Additionally, I am adding a secondary 2.5 shock bypass shock. I liked the idea that Icon has their S2 system which allows you to mount a secondary shock on stock lowers but I wanted king shocks. Icon didn't want to discuss shock lengths or really any details. I came across this raptor series kit which appears to be a complete copy of Icon's kit for 1/2 the price. Actually, I think I got it for 300 on ebay. I will let everyone know what my impressions of it are later in the build.

    https://www.raptorseries.com/Toyota-Tacoma-2021_p-791-shock-mounting-brackets-25-secondary.aspx

    For the rears
I ordered 10 inch dual tube bypasses with Total chaos' shock hoops and plan on running a all pro 3 inch lift progressive leaf (non-expedition spring rate). I don't haul more the 500 lbs payload.

and rear king hydro bump stops. (ran out of money so haven't ordered these yet)

    Shock part numbers below:

    Front shock 25001-119a-ext-700
    Secondary Front Shock TC1119-25
    Rear Shock PR2510-BP2P
