Need to study knot tying I guess.:anonymous: Went to hook my small pack to my crossbow and lower them from the tree tonight. The knot on my hook let go and my crossbow fell about 10 feet. :annoyed: Everything looks okay, I'll have to check it out tomorrow and see if it still shoots straight.

At my previous job we had just started using Revit for a local chain of sporting goods stores. Revit was so new at the time that when some Autodesk people came to train us, we asked them how to do track lighting.

Their suggestion was to use a "flat handrail" and design the "balusters" to look like the track light. A junction box was added so that the panel schedule would calculate the load correctly.

I can only hope that they've since improved the electrical side of Revit.

The last handful of buildings on campus have been designed in Revit but since we don't have it installed on any of our machines, we have them export it to a dwg.

lol. Yeah, the early days of Revit where tough. I was heavily involved in developing my employers Revit libraries and templates, making sure 3D parts where realistically sized, and training our staff on using it. As well has using navisworks for clash detection between all disciplines. When set up correct Revit was extremely accurate for auto calculating the sizing for its piping, mechanical, and electrical load systems.
By the time I left the industry to go back to engineering school most vendors had come on board with providing correct parametric models.

The basic stuff (receptacles, light switches, etc.) was all set up but we had to create all of our job specific stuff from scratch - light fixtures, handrail track lighting, horizontal receptacles. That first project was a nightmare.

There were some things already modeled on a Revit website that we could use, like from plan view it looked like a regular old electrical transformer but if you cut an elevation or a section, it was a 40' tall Optimus Prime. We left that in our model for about a month until the architect finally spotted it.

Oh man. I could remember back on so many similar stories. I remember reviewing one of the other designers plumbing model and came across an 8” DCW backflow preventer assembly wedged Into about a 2 foot section. I told myself “no freaking way”! Upon closer inspection the designer had put together this assembly of valves and fitting using the generic welded families in Revit which where never correctly sized to begin with.
