Absolutely, having a sign may not/most likely doesn’t absolve the party responsible for their actions, for one thing, maybe you didn’t see the bloody sign, and another, it sounds like a bullshit excuse to weasel their way out of liability, I doubt their “sign” will hold water once the wheels of your insurance claim or small claims court begin to turn.
I am sorry for your troubles OP, best of luck to you.

Chevrolet ran a TV ad a year or so ago showing a number of their vintage trucks "meant to work/still working" with their owners pointing out and talking about the various dents, scratches and scars. They briefly explained each of them and how they tell the a story. Really a great ad.

Did you submit it online or actually speak to an insurance rep?

Not a cheap fix at all. if you want it done the right way that will def be a couple thousand dollars. I had close to the same amount of damage on the side of my bed and it came out to be almost $3-4k if i remember right. Just like others have said its because its not a easily replaceable part like a fender. if you want it done cheap youre probably looking at give or take $1500 based on how cheaply you want it to get done. I say leave it and touch it up a little. go back to that place during the night with a hammer ;)

I went through this about 10 years ago. My estimate was about $1000 so it wouldn't have been worth going through insurance. I sued them and the day before someone from the business (not the owner who had rudely told me he wasn't going to do anything) called to offer me a settlement. I wasn't really able to trim any fat off the estimate I was given and explained that. He then advised me the owner was going on vacation and wouldn't be at court the next day. I showed up and was given a default judgment in the full amount, had a check in 2 weeks for that amount.

I received an estimate from a local body shop for $1500. I submitted photos, as requested from Geico to get an estimate and they came back with $800 and want to cut me a check for $300 after my $500 deductible. So where do I go from here guys? Appreciate advice :)

Take it to a body shop of your choice with your claim number. Pay your deductible and let the body shop handle the repairs and dealing with your insurance for the revisions of the repair. The shop and insurance typically negotiate for price of repair. I forget the actual name for the process.

I assume you told Geico who hit you and gave their info?

I don't know anything about Ohio insurance law, but why do you have to pay a deductible if your truck was sitting still and the company's machine dented your cab? In MA, that would be 100% their fault no matter what their sign may say.

I agree with the others, take it to your body shop and if they are any good, they'll go to bat for you with the insurance company. I've seen my body shop guy argue with the adjuster from the insurance company on behalf of customers.

i didn’t read the other posts, but you could have to pay your collision deductible even for a not at fault accident if the other insurance company is dragging their feet. sometimes you can get the deductible refunded.

It's probably state specific. I know that in MA a 50/50 accident means that neither party has to pay a deductible. OTOH, in TX if it's 50/50 BOTH parties get to pay the deductible. At least that's how my daughter explained it to me when she had a recent 50/50 accident in Austin.

I still have the damage to my truck and a $300 check. My insurance rates went up over $100 for 6 months. I am wishing now I would have gone the small claims court route since I will probably need to do that anyway to get my $500 deductible back. Blah...

Why wasn't the truck fixed and what's the $300 for? Did you ask your insurance why your rate increased? Small claims could still be an option. :notsure:
