I installed mine in July and have had no problems with the SD. The only thing that could use improvement is the rear camera mounting.

On the Blackvue in my previous Tacoma, it mounted to the glass via double sided tape. In the 5 years it was on there it never moved and allowed the slider to function. Like OP mentioned, this one isn’t as easy to mount back there, but it can be done . It just takes some tweaking.

No issues with TSS, as this is really just a replacement cover that also contains the camera. I did also purchase the optional hardwire kit to allow operation while parked, but I haven’t gotten around to installing yet. Its on my list next time Im in the fusebox.

All in all its been great, the part I like the best is that its completely hidden . You would really have to look hard to notice it’s not stock. App works well also . There is also an option in the app to mute the dash cam microphone if privacy is a concern.

    All in all 2thumbs up.

I'm interested to hear about your experience with the hardwiring kit. I am still shopping around before buying a dashcam but have generally liked what I've seen of the fitcamx so far. Parking mode is an important feature and if it's functional with the fitcam that'd be a win.

I too would be interested in the hardware kit. My old setup from my car I carried over to the Tacoma wasn't hardwired, but having it on this vehicle would be nice

Just FYI in case you missed it in this thread... discount code CAM566 will give you 6% off if you order direct. But I totally get ordering from Amazon for having comfort of the return policy.

Where did you get the hardwire kit? I don't see them listed on Amazon or their website.

I haven't purchased a camera from Fitcam yet, but this is what I saw on the product page in the model comparison table. My assumption is you need to email them.

I'm curious if the kit plays nicely with some of the common battery packs for dashcams on the market.

Thats a good question. IDK if Im that commited to get a battery, but its something I've thought about. The dashcam itself is going to be expensive enough, but it would be a worthwhile upgrade.

I talked to fitcamx chat support and they don't officially support using a battery system, BUT 12v is 12v is 12v so you could easily wire one up if you wanted.

Got my FitcamX, Front & Rear installed today:thumbsup: The biggest pain in the arse, was stuffing "all" that extra wire running to the rear camera into the headliner:annoyed:

I assume we cannot access the camera using the app, unless the vehicle is running??????? Other than that its just the Learning Curve:cheers:

Picks on how you mounted the rear camera? I have yet to install my rear camera and not wanting to drill into anything yet.
