So took a quick look the Amazon is for just 1 locked and wouldn’t be keyed-matched together if you buy two. Super Pacific sells 2 together key-matched. Don’t know what dealer pricing they get for a set, but based on Amazon price for two ($27.20 with CA tax), it still over 100% markup.

Still bad, but quick look shows they are only one that offers 2 curt locks key-matched. Non key-match slightly better security and a lot cheaper, but if you want just one key for both then you have to pay the premium.

Yeah it's a big markup for key matching. I was curious and checked their Instagram post advertising these new locks and they are sharing they are Curt trailer hitches, which I missed, but the website made me think they were custom machined for the X1. My bad. Didn't want you all to make the same mistake.

100% markup is a lot, but let's remember that you can buy almost everything for less money on Amazon than just about any other retail store - in fact Amazon sometimes losses money on items due to their aggressive pricing strategies. A quick search shows that those locks go for about $17-25/ea depending on where you buy. So you are looking at a slight markup to have matching keys after tax, ship, etc.

I bet if you walked into your local Uhaul store or whatever it would be damn close to the same price as SP. With everyone now owning a smartphone and having it in their pockets every waking moment I don't have much sympathy for people thinking they got "duped" when shopping as a market price check is literally seconds away at any point.

If they had listed this as a Curt product repackaged on their website I absolutely would agree. However there is no mention.

The question is, why do you need to lock the camper? Or is this just a case of "i need to find something else to buy, just because?"

I was using simple shackle locks but a bolt cutter could still fit. These Curt ones are certainly a nicer fit. Personally I don't like the idea that someone could access everything in the bed of my truck (gear plus house niceties like Dometic) by popping the tent and climbing down through. Will it prevent a determined thief? Certainly not.
i am often away from my truck hunting or hiking etc.

Meh. $13k camper and no sales tax, what’s another $30 at that point.

Yeah I don’t think it’s super egregious price gouging for what it is, given you get two, keyed alike and they’re marking it up, that said after spending $13k+on a camper, I don’t feel like I should have to drop another $60 just to secure it. Given the inside is accessible thru the top, super pacific should sell a product that is secure and lockable out the door, without these extra locks, it just isn’t secure My .02. They claim they don’t dick around with bs add on options like their competitors but that’s exactly what this is imo.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I just don't worry about locking the latches. I feel like if someone really wants to get in there, they'll just pry one of door latches open or break the back window.

Crowbar to the side doors would pop this puppy open in 2 seconds. I've found that most people don't even realize the top pops up in the first place.

Before it was added to their online store they posted the Curt lock model # on social media for anyone looking for a lock that fits the camper well. I'd tried a few padlocks but none fit well but did pick up this curt one soon as they posted it. Don't see a need for two of them. But one for $13 is reasonable They don't just pop on you have to rotate the key to "screw" the lock mechanism into place so they're not very quick to install. I only use it if I'm going to be parking the truck with tent closed for an extended period.

I have built a very very similar setup for my Tundra including the 3 drawer Packout and older style Dometic. Let me know if you would like me to post a pic. The Milwaukee packouts are a fantastic option IMO, using the baseplate allows you to customize your load out and no tethering or ratchet straps, just click it in and go!
