Kinda.

The filter is pretty big and half of it went below the factory tub. It was fine for a long time, then we were ambushed by rain and a flash flood. Long way home and lots of water to drive through. Eventually sucked in enough to stall the engine. Tons of water in the piping, maf and some in cylinders. Long story but I had to pull the piping and plugs in the rain and crank it a bit to clear most of it out. Got her home in one piece. So first thing was an oil change and a splash guard on filter side. I got pretty lucky.

Round 2.
I was out in the 4runner this weekend hobby mining and it started to rain. Didn't think much of it, looked like a small storm. After half a hour the wash had a little bit of running water and I was tired by then, so I packed up. No sooner than I started the truck, I heard the loud crashing of water coming down a small waterfall up stream. Holy crap I did a K turn so fast, and up the ramp just as the water came around the corner. So close. I looked to the left and another wave was coming down that feeder wash too. So I high tailed it out of there, and literally beat the biggest wash you must cross as it flooded.

This is nothing compared to the people in Florida.

 

Good fitment, and fit back together like stock, I'd say. Group buy???

Yeah, I think the flooded maf saved me.

End snapped off and bounced around a few times. I can grab the remaining stem and push it back but not pull it out. I’ll have to remove the cams to see if the retainers are still in place.

Head gasket still looks good though.

 

I may reuse that and save $40. It’s only got maybe 15 minutes on it.

 

Exhaust valve?

I was just thinking about replacing valves in this engine I'm rebuilding. Especially since I'll be bumping up to higher spring rates. Typically the exhaust valve goes first since it's gettin cooked.

 

Are my contacts fuzzy or are there 5 valves in that cylinder?

 

Yes. Not a Yoder but an Audi. Was/will be running 30psi and I’ll be sorta using it as a template for my 3rz.

 

Not necessarily turbo related (although several of his videos are) but some of you may be familiar with this software, but I'm new to it and find it pretty cool. Just a cool free way to test concepts. He does a lot of head to head videos like light vs heavy with the same weight to power ratio, or displacement vs turbo etc... So when are you building one? It's the next obvious question.

 

Probably right after my ~$1000 budget boosted RAV4 project... Which will depend one when my wife can find a 5th gen t4r that ticks all the boxes... Or we find that extra 1.5 million or so that seems to be missing and she gets a new sequoia that ticks Even more boxes... But if that happens the projects will go much faster
