Remote Start Engine Cut Off Bypass?

Spoke to Toyota R&D years back and they said no workaround for Lexus/Toyota PTS vehicles.

I almost said 'feature' instead of "bug". I chose the word that went best with the context of the thread.

 

What bugs me about it is the remote connect. This means you have to have your phone to operate the remote start. I have the remote start on my FOB and I am not interested in the remote connects app monthly fee as I live in a remote area where phone signals are not available or are very poor. just saying.

 

Subscription based features are, unfortunately, a thing now.

 

That is great if you live near or in a big city then it would be worth the subscription but where I am would be a waste of money.

Remote start it with the window open, dukes of hazzard it thru the window. Try to drive away. Truck will shut off the minute you depress the brake.

TBH its a security feature so your vehicle doesn't get stolen so you can remote start it out of eye sight of the vehicle. Why do you want to disable it? Mine does the same and i have an aftermarket system. But thefts of cars running and unattended are on the rise as people get more desperate. Its a pain sometimes vut good piece of mind that the system prevents a theft as well.

 

My 2023 Taco Sport Turd indeed shuts down when any door is opened.

 

odd how multiple other manufacturers have figured out how to make it happen and not have theft issues…

 

You are using the Remote Connect app to remote start, correct?

 

Funny how Toyota doesn't seem to give a about other manufacturers and do their own thing and somehow have some of the best and most popular, most reliable vehicles on the market.
Write Toyota you think they are doing it wrong and see if they care.

 

Ask all the owners of vehicles who shut off at stop lights, and when idling longer than X amount of seconds, without moving. it is like hyper-mileing to get more fuel economy. you are over thinking it. Ski

 

Ones with keys you can open the door but you gotta put the key in then press the brake guess it’s good the truck doesn’t shut off.

 

Wasn't there someone a while back that solved this? A company maybe? There was a video of it in action floating around here.

 

Even with signal it was a poor service making it a huge waste, Key fob ftw..

 

It doesn't prevent theft at all. And a car being remote started in no way makes it any easier to steal.

 

Almost 6 years and no one has figured out how to bypass this nonsense? It’s been proven possible, but no one will say how due to liability. Hopefully someone figures it out some day.

Also, no. You can’t trick the system by taping down the door switch.

 

If only, if Toyota can change the button pad on the newer vehicles then they should make it possible for the rest of us to get them replaced. I would be willing to pay for the replacement if it is a decent price.
