I think you'll have fun regardless. I just always had a soft spot for race trucks - Short Course was my thing as a yewt.

It has a salvage title from Penn, I live in Alabama. They have a requirement that you have to have a “rebuilders license” to apply for a rebuilt title but there are services you can buy where you send everything to someone with the license and they set you up for the inspection and get the title signed over to you when it comes back. Cost is around $350 plus $90 for the state inspection. Some will insure a rebuilt title but not all, I got a quote from Farmers. Nobody will sell you full coverage, only liability

That seems a bit risky on just trying to sell it. $17k + reg/taxes + ~$7k for the frame + small plastic parts that will break trying to transfer them over… A new buyer trying to get a steal will likely not be able to get financing on a $30k salvage truck that can't be fully insured.

Hopefully you can get a used frame and save some cash on that.

Was there any damage to the front? If not, I think you got something to work with. Frame swap should be pretty straight forward. Savy techs can do it in 2 days. Of course they have access to a lift, and the other tools that make it easy. If you could find a bed the same color at a junk yard, you would really be in business.

Got a used frame for $3500. If nobody buys it I’m ok with it, I’ve always wanted one of these anyway so selling it isn’t my top priority in any case

Sounds like you already know what you’re doing. I’ve stripped trucks to bare frame in rain/snow/ mud with basic hand tools. If you got a lift and a garage/shop you’re set. Easy day. Excited to see your progress.

The frame is in MUCH better shape than I assumed being it was an engine fire. Here’s the problem, I’m basically doing this alone and that frame is a lot heavier than I assumed. I can’t figure out how I’m going to get it across the yard to the garage where I can slide it.

If you don't have folks in you're life that can help you out, put out a call in your local TW thread.

Forum-Stalk anyone who replies before you respond, weed out the suspicious as needed.

I'm sure upstanding folks would be willing to help you out. Maybe sweeten the pot with pizza, beer....

    Good Luck

I moved a small shed once by using some old lumber as tracks on the lawn. I would move the back boards to the front as I moved the shed along. Just a thought if you can't find someone to help carry it.

Can you get some 4" cast iron pipe about 5' long. Three of them. Put 2 on the ground put the frame on the two put the third one 3' in front roll the frame. As the pipes come out stop and put it in front. We moved a jacuzzi this way. Took time but it worked
