Considered airbags? I have them with my OME medium duty for my slide in camper. Work great and adjustable. I use cradles on the bottom for when it's off road.

Yeah, Id like to avoid bags but I might have to. I have the dakar HD right now but my truck is also heavy. I am hoping the Devers will fix it but if not then I am probably going to have to get them. The tongue weight is almost 500 lbs so its heavy up front also.

This is exactly what I'm installing on my '11 4banger tomorrow. Definitely considering removing the sway bar while I'm at it. Call it weight savings?

would recommend. I got an OV tune on my 2015. ive had both the 91 and the 87 tune from OV. noticeable difference over stock with the 87 tune. mega difference over stock with the 91, and 91 is noticeably better than 87 tune. as soon as I drove off I could feel it. Ive read places people saying the better fuel doesnt matter in these trucks. but with that premium fuel tune ive had a different experience.

Had some FJ alloys coated a nice bronze. Centercaps done gloss black. Logo looks crooked cause it's not fully pressed back on - need to wait for full paint cure.

    OK

So, let me guess. You have weighed your truck, fully loaded, and that weight combined with the fully loaded trailer weight do not exceed the GCVW of the Tacoma, right?

If your hitch weight is close to 500 lbs with the trailer new and empty, I cannot help but think it is going to be more than 5,000 lbs loaded, assuming 10% of trailer weight equals hitch weight; could be 15%.

It is not hard at all to overload a trailer to say nothing of getting the weight distribution such that it is either tail/nose heavy. And, it is a single axle; I have not see a GVW trailer of 5,000 lbs. with anything less than dual axles. Not to say yours could not be the exception but it is not something I have encountered with a utility trailer to say nothing of a travel trailer.

I hope you have a scale for your tongue so you can measure your hitch weight accurately; it is not at all hard to overload a travel trailer.

As for the suggestion for airbags. They are good for load leveling but do nothing to increase the weight your two vehicle suspension can handle.

I use them on every dual axle trailer I have, and have owned, in order to get the dual axle trailer level so the weight is not biased toward either of the axles - not an issue on a single axle trailer. But, weight distribution is an issue for all trailers; too much weight bias to the rear and your tongue will want to lift off of the tow vehicle. Too much forward and you are placing too much weight/strain on the A-frame of the trailer - to say nothing of the increased weight on the tow vehicle suspension.

You may also want to consider a weight distribution hitch to shift some of the weight from the rear axle to the front axle of you truck given the loads you will be carrying.

Also, an anti-sway hitch could well be in order given the weight you have in the back of the truck combined with that of the trailer.

    Happy Camping!!!

Took this a couple days ago, just satisfying when you can catch it right on the money! Hopefully many more to go in the 2011!
