    My apologies.

In doing more reading, I think in my case, better headlights could be accomplished with new housings and stock wattage replacement bulbs, whichever are currently available. I don't think the harness is necessary in how I use my truck.

I will have to do more reading in this thread to see where to get the preferred housings and an appropriate set of bulbs...

Appreciate the post @crashnburn80 and the community support has been refreshing. I purchased the harness for my 2006 and waiting on my Osram 100/90's to arrive. Because my original lenses were in dire straights I ordered new. Shared my VIN with the company I ordered from and received the following OEM parts:

    81170-04163 Left
    81130-04163 Right

I'm certain the new lenses will fit but I'm unsure if the DRL's won't burn out like my original set. After reading the TSB and several earlier posts I'm second guessing these part numbers. Any insight, thoughts?

To be candid, why don't you disable the DRLs? You're running off-road wattage bulbs with limited lifespans. You really don't want them burning all the time, even at a reduced output.

I believe the drl’s are disabled with the aftermarket wiring harness. At least they are on my 2014.

I wouldn't know, I didn't have them to begin with. But good.

My drl work just fine. So long as you have the correct bulb they shouldn't burn out quickly either. Not all are created equal, some are only rated for turn signals, other for longer term use.

Don't DRL utilize the primary headlamp bulb? It sounds like you're talking about the parking lamps.

Check again as I don't believe the '06 had DRL's.

I’m running the 90/100 Osrams. I just get the parking lights and no drl with the headlamps.

    Headlight DRLs
NOTE: If you have daytime running lights thatuse the headlights (not the amber indicators) this mod will disable the headlight DRL function. This is because the headlight DRLs use a reduced wattage high beam, by installing this mod the circuit becomes anon/off switch due to the relay that is able to take the extra current. Since the relay is either on or off, the headlights are either on or off and do not operate at partial wattage like the DRLs. This has no effect if your DRLs utilize the amber indicators like the majority ofTacomas.

Does anyone know offhand if Headlight Services ships their headlight harness to Canada?

So I have been heehawing around upgrading my headlights. Bought the TYC Capa certified from RA and the fitment was fine but alignment was way off. I noticed some shadowing on dark country roads. I posted a pic after alignment and you can see it but it's more noticeable driving. Is this normal. I'm thinking it's probably time to bite the bullet and just fork over the $$$ for OEM lights, or keep these and do the projector refit. I think it's the inner shroud that is messing things up. On the TYC the inner center is a dark color whereas the OEM it's unpainted silver. I thought I could just swap those out but it looks like I would have to access them from the front, aka the easy bake oven method.

Sorry to hear you were burned by aftermarket headlights. Many people believe that something the insurance companies say is "same as OEM" - which is what CAPA Certified allows them to say - is actually true. Sadly, it's not true much of the time. What it does do is allow insurance companies to spend less on parts to repair your vehicle. And truth be told, the vast majority of the population doesn't know the difference.

Several years ago, my son was driving my 2006 Scion xB daily driver and swerved to avoid a deer. Yea, he missed the deer, but the guardrail was a different story. My insurance company was pretty up-front about wanting to use CAPA certified parts even though I knew I could insist on OEM. (Most folks don't know that.) I found OEM sheet metal parts at a local junkyard in excellent condition, then we negotiated back and forth on other parts. I allowed the CAPA stuff on things like the inner fender liner but insisted on an OEM headlight and other critical stuff. When it came to the front bumper cover, I only allowed them to use CAPA Certified if they guaranteed the fit - which they did. The body shop prepped and painted the cover only to find it didn't fit worth a crap. The insurance company had to eat it and pay for an OEM one. Score one for the good guys!

Lesson learned? CAPA Certified does not guarantee that it's actually as good as OEM.

I haven’t tied it on a pc but the link for the harness web page won’t let me add it to the cart on my IOS device. Clicked all around and above below the add to cart icon with no success :-/ web page isn’t displaying properly.

Heads up to anyone in Utah, you won’t be able to order from power bulbs for they are unable to ship to Utah. I’m guessing it has something to do with state sales tax from online purchases. In fact they only have 30 states listed as a option for shipping. They had the best deals on the bulbs I have seen but it is what is. :p
